Dibling seems a big lad already for his age which should be a plus. I'm not sure how mobile he is or will be though.
He has looked a little shell-shocked to me so far. A teenager playing amongst men. Some players have the self-confidence and sense of gravitas to cope well with that and let their talent show.
Buying him was a gamble but in the end we didn't pay megabucks although still a significant fee by our standards.
As with Barry you just have to hope there is a player in there. I'd be more confident of that with Dibling as Barry is 23 already.
We do need to see something from both of them this season to show what we bought them for. There are minimum levels you need to reach given a big outlay.
Aznou is different I think, he seems like someone offered to us and they saw enough to go for it, rather than being actively persued. I don't expect to see that much of him this year. Physically he is not ready.

I said 7 and will stick with it simply because of Jack. Grealish was the statement signing and a no-brainer once it became clear he was up for coming. I was pleased with Röhl as I felt he added balance - but obviously he hasn't made any impact as of yet. Dewsbury-Hall looked a solid signing to me - and seems to have proven to be already. The rest have been close to disastrous so far. I hoped Barry and Aznou would make some impact by now even if bedding in would require time. I'm not sure even time can save Barry, and Aznou really looks a ridiculous waste of money on early evidence. Why were we buying for the future when we didn't have the money for the present?

The lesson? As always with Everton, it's the so-called "pessimists" who have been largely proven to be correct every single year this century. The optimists, at this point, need taking away by men in white coats...

I guess I view it as slightly worse now, purely because the younger players look further away from the required level (at the moment) than I’d hoped.
Barry looks lost, but more worrying than just ability, he isn’t even trying to run/battle his way through his early games. Aznou clearly isn’t yet showing enough to get minutes ahead of a right footed midfielder at LB, and not even getting cameos. Dibling will be fine, but if Jack and Illy are both available (neither are 10s) then he simply doesn’t get a start. Being out of the cup affects his integration the most; he needed those starts.
Always have to remember it will have been really tough to get PL-ready players that are better than what we had to actually come here, given recent seasons. Regular manager sackings, DoF changes, ownership changes, relegation battles, regulatory punishments. We will be much more attractive next summer.
