Not going to bang this drum all season, but do over 100 people still think it was a 9 or 10? Looks worse every week.
I had changed mine from 8/10 to 6/10 because it remains clear the wide open gaps we have and didn't address properly in the window. So, 7 games in and an exit from the league cup, has anyone changed their vote yet?
I'll stick with 6/10 (which was based on it really being a 5/10 window but Grealish was worth a point alone to take it to a 6)
Signings wise
Travers - hasn't filled many people with confidence that he's an able deputy to Pickford
King - there for the numbers
Aznou - I think we were all hoping he'd be first team ready due to his pedigree, but that isnt the case and seems a bit away from challenging a first team spot
Rohl - we've had nothing to judge him on yet due to injury, though his injury record is patchy at best
Kiernan Dewsbury Hall - he's made a decent start to his Everton career, though has limited the minutes Alcaraz has been given who I think is our most effective 10. But I'd say KDH is proving a solid buy.
Jack Grealish - Not much needs to be said, he's made a fantastic impact so far and definitely looking like our best signing to date
Thierno Barry - Hasn't shown anything in the time given so far to make me confident that he's PL quality. I did see a great goal he scored on his highlights reel last week though, that made me think there is definitely a player in there, somewhere. Needs to how a lot more though to convince.
Tyler Dibling. I was worried at the time that it was a lot of money for someone who had only shown brief glimpses, plus didn't have the rapid pace that we were crying out for. But early days and again, hopefully as time progresses we'll see a lot more from him.
Charly Alcaraz - limited minutes given so far, but Sunday showed what he offers when given time.
So out of 9 signing, only 2 are regulars and have hit the ground running.
Angus Kinnear mentioned in his Toffee TV interview that January will probably be a quiet one. I can't see how that can be the case as we are so short of quality in the full bsck areas and up top.
Once December/Jan comes and the AFCON, we're going to need the likes of Dibling, Barry, Rohl to be firing on all cylinders and hoping Tim and Mcneil are contributing.

Not surprised that January will be quiet as we simply (i expect) do not have the money to go and get anything... maybe 1 loan for the remainder of the season.
Next summer it's about keeping Jack (not sure of the cost) getting a center forward and full back positions. They should be our priorities and we have no excuses as we have had 12 months+ to prepare for this.
Alcaraz should be a starter. Dibling and Rohl will grow into the team.
Others seemingly not anytime soon.
So 3 starters (although 1 was here already) and 2 who will have some influence in the team during the season.
Not bad, but as others have said... we were never going to rebuild in one season.
Make sure we get top half (maybe even Europe... conference league potentially ideal).... and then build again next summer.
Basically the money spent on established players in KDH & Grealish, is money well spent.
The waste is massive; Barry, Dibbling & Aznou, all potentially wonderful players, but for where the club is, we cannot be wasting 80m on players who either cannot get on the pitch or are not anywhere near ready too.
I’m all for the football manager approach, buying wonder kids, but when we had such glaring needs to our first 11, it’s an absolute criminal waste.
Barry in my opinion will never be good enough to be a premier league footballer. Which I realise is quite a wide assessment on a 6ft5 quick forward.
Dibbling I said at the time, most were getting massively hyped up about him potentially being a world class 100m player, no one wanted to admit that it was more likely he could not fulfil that potential.
We have purchased lots of high level elite potential world class players.
Of recent we have never developed any of them. They have always gone to develop after leaving us. Kean & Lookman come to mind.
The club should have purchased players who were 23-26 who are much more further along in their development, who after a season or two could still be flipped.
Trevor Stephen took time to settle - kept out of the team by Peter Beagerie who got a bad injury the Trevor made his place his own ....Dibling has played a grand total of about an hour since he joined Everton and you`ve written him off ????
After he left us for a profit I might hasten to add, Moise Keane has played for PSG on loan, where he did very well and came back to us, he was then sent back out on loan to Juventus, with an obligation to buy, which they did. He didn`t really set the world alight there and they ended up selling him him to Fiorentina in 2024, where he finally became the player the was touted to become.
Ademola Lookman, after signing for us and not setting the world alight either, he went out on loan to Leipzig, who are famous for developing young talent and eventually signed him, then after all but giving up on him because of his stinky attitude, sent him out on loan to Fulham and Leicester, neither of whom wanted to sign him after he`d been there and was eventually sold to Atlanta, where just like Moise Kean, he became the player that he was touted to be. So some four seasons and four clubs later, he finally finds his feet. ( and by the way, he`s been up to his usual tricks at Fiorentina and the manager isn`t too happy about his attitude )
Please do us all a favour and find another stick to beat the club with.

He kept him out of our side- fact even the victorious semi final win Beagrie played on the wing in that game v Southampton- he also had a loan spell before we signed him too!Beagrie came after Trevor Steven, way after in fact Joey.
