Elm himself has confirmed that he was in Liverpool on friday to meet Everton so hopefully we're his first choise, but as usual when it comes to transfers and Everton, I don't feel secure until I see the player in an Everton shirt.

Have you seen much of him mate, what type of player is he, a workhorse? can beat a man? pacey? Creative?

Ive just seen his finishing on youtube, what role would you see him in our team and what do you think he would bring?

I'd say he's a bit like Pienaar in his style, technical and creative with a good eye for the game. His weakness is the physical game. My biggest concern is hoiw he will adjust to the temo in the PL but his peformances in the national team shows promise. I think hill will compete with Pienaar and Osman for a place inte the team.

The Sunday People are saying:

Everton have swooped for Swedish star Rasmus Elm - and hope to complete a £3 million deal today. The midfielder was a star turn in the recent European Under-21 Championship in his homeland and Everton boss David Moyes has stepped in to beat Fulham in the race for his signature.

Elm was in Merseyside yesterday to discuss terms and sort out a medical. The fee has been provisionally agreed with his club Kalmar FF.

Moyes, meanwhile, has put Bolton's Gary Cahill at the top of his shopping list as a possible replacement for Joleon Lescott.

Manchester City are set to come in with an improved £20m offer for Lescott - after their initial £15m offer was turned down - which could tempt Everton into doing business.

Am a bit sceptical seeing as he scored for his club last night.

Elm i samtal med Everton | Kalmar | Allsvenskan | Sverige | Fotbollsbladet | Sportbladet | Aftonbladet

Rough Translation:

"It's very flattering that the PL number five wants me. It doesn't come much bigger than this. Everton are an interesting and exciting club. But a lot of things must be right, I only want to a go to a club that's 100% sure it wants me."

The Kalmar FF chief Johnny Pettersson says, that Everton aren't the only interested club. There are at least two other clubs, but they haven't shown equally strong interest. Kalmar FF refused to sell Elm [although here Aftonbladet talks about Viktor Elm - a mistake?] a year ago because they wanted to ensure their Allsvenskan-campaign, but since then Elm signed a one-year contract, which obviously includes a get-away clause. This time the offered money is also much bigger than a year ago. Everton have been watching Elm in Malmö and Debrecen.

Kalmar's manager Svante Samuelsson says that the decision whether Elm signs for Everton or not will be done during the coming week. [Obviously Kalmar FF are eager to cash in with the player to strengthen their team]

Nice one mate and still very young so a lot of potential to develop he seems to have the tools. You see him as a winger then some have been saying he can play centraly.

If he turns out to be 75% the player Pienarr is wel have a good one.

Har redan varit på besök hos Everton - Allsvenskan - Allt om allsvenskan!

Ok, correction, he doesn't say himself that he has been on Merseyside, the article only referr to "sources" that claim he was there. (I read an article that interpeted this article a bit more optimistic that I do), in this article he say he's flatterd by Evertons interest but that no decision has been made and that there are more options. On the question if he was in Liverpool he answers "no comment".

Anything else close that you may have heard mate?

No its all gone quiet really, the lad who I get the info is usually spot on, has told me a couple of things that have turned out to be true. Ill keep you posted though if I hear anything else

So far he has scored 8 goals in the swedish league this season. If this deal go through, I don't think he will sign until late in the week though. Kalmar have their second leg against Debrecen in the CL competition this week and even if they lost the first leg I can't see them letting Elm go before the second game.

So even if we do get him, the fact that he has played in that competition already means he won't be eligable for us to use in the Europe-League.:(

TGV... nice to see another Evertonsupporter from my hometown. (y)

Looking at the other teams that are interested in him, I can only see a competition from Valencia and Bayern Mûnich if you look at the level of football.

As Elm says in an intervju when told Ajax and PSV were to look at him this weekend:

"If I get to choose between the premier league and the dutch league I think you can come to the conclusion yourself"
