RANGERS

Yep. I had family in the lodge. We used to go watch the marches as kid, catholic mates and all. Nobody was aware of the relevance, it just looked boss watching the band. The innocence of youth I suppose.

Now I'm older, I still don't get it.
Yes my grandma a Catholic who never missed mass
Lived off everton road
We used to visit every Sunday and all watch the orange men march past
She was of an age who knew the relevance but enjoyed the show as we did

Neither Merseyside club has any religious connections apart from St. Domingo being Welsh Methodist (neither Protestant nor Catholic). For outsiders to try to project that on Merseyside simply because that’s what happens elsewhere is foolish and unnecessary. We simply don’t do that here eh?

Bye.

I think that was what I was trying to say on the post wasn't it mate? If you chose to dislike someone on religion it wouldn't make any sense. I dislike Gerrard on his actions and behaviour. I've not liked Rangers much after the way they behaved of the Michael Ball fiasco. I'm not sure what relevance Gerrard's religion has and I agreed with the lads post.

Religion is irrelevant but the methodist church is protestant

I think it's fair enough to acknowledge the origins of the club. Both were founded by protestants and Liverpool FC went very heavily for this idea. Whats wrong is to say "we were formed by Protestants so we are Protestant" or "Liverpool were run by Protestants so we should exclude them". Thats what's wrong for me.

The origins of the club, and it's rich tradition should be remembered, but not used as an excuse to attack people, which to be fair most aren't doing!

St Domingos is all bollocks. There was such a Sunday "league" team briefly formed and playing a couple of scratch games, but it's generally accepted now amongst scholars that there is no evidence that the club (Everton) originated from that source. The club was formed from players of a variety of denominations in the district of Everton.

The Everton/Liverpool schism in terms of religion is based on the distinct political hue of the men who went separate ways post-1892...religion and politics being so closely aligned back then. Nothing to do with church/chapel roots and muscular Christianity. Everton were formed as a representative district team...more broadly speaking (and accurately speaking) a north end of Liverpool team

It's 10 years since that Uefa Cup semi final win against Fiorentina.Rangers could have won the final that year.If it wasn't for the SFA scuppering their chances by overloading their match schedule.
Hahaha, state of this post, how they managed to make the final beggars belief, they were lucky Zenit only got two.

Let's blame the sfa, couldn't make it up. That europa campaign still pains me, if penalties had went our way we would have got past PSV and Rangers, not sure about the final cos Zenit were decent, but it would have been like a home game in Manchester and that might have seen us through.

At least the Rangers fans enjoyed their night out though, horrible shower.

Didn't we beat Zenith 4-1 in the group stages? PSV would have been challenging, but we'd have annihilated Rangers, who were not fit to lace that teams boots.

We beat them 1-0,they gave three quarters of the game with ten men, and still battered us. Tim popped up with a late winner, was at the game, they were quality at the time.

We would have beaten PSV.

Well Rangers won 2 trophies that season, as a consolation.Celtic won nothing in that season they reached the Uefa cup final.

Stevie G agrees a 3 year contract with Rangers according to most papers. He'll take over tomorrow.

For better or worse it looks like it's happening.Stadium tours at Ibrox are apparently cancelled today.A lot of posters on Follow Follow reckon that Slippy G, will turn out to be a 21st century version of Graeme Souness for them.We shall see.

I couldn't care less about how either team done that year, I called you up on your statement saying fixture congestion cost ye, it didn't. Zenit were a far, far superior team.

He'd probably do better in Europe next season with their current squad than brenda rodgers has ever done in his whole career with both liverpool and celtic lol
