Do you think this would work?

It would work, but why buy a player to play in Cahills and Fellainis postion, we already have these 2, plus others like Pienaar, Arteta and Billy who could play there.

For me the team is crying out for an Essien, Stevie G, Alonso, Defour, Moutinho, Fabragas, Carrick.

Thinking it all over, as much as I'd love VDV at Everton, I think we would be better of with someone like Bentley atm. A genuine right sided player, would give a much better balance to the team, I believe.

this move will never happen , i imagine the wages would be way too high.

its nice to dream though (y)

vdv is another player who can play anywhere in the midfeild but mainly plays as a cm playmaker.

his mrs is also a total hotty ,sylvie van der vaart....

I wouldn't mind Bentley. Still think we haven't properly addressed the right-side, despite signing Bily.

Pienaar could play there yes, but he's been playing left, why change it?

Bily will probably be more natural on the left.

I do agree we need an enforcer in the middle though like MG said, I don't think Moutinho is this however, he's far too casual and doesn't have the discipline from what I've seen.

As for Fellaini and Cahill playing behind the strikers, I think we would all agree Cahill belongs there. I don't think Fellaini does though, he needs to learn the centre-midfield position more. I just think sometimes he loses interest playing off the striker, rather see him trying to enforce in the midfield.

It seems that we agree 100% on this matter.(y)

Edit: make that 90%, as I can't see Fellaini as the enforcer in midfield. In Belgium maybe, but not in England.

I'd have no problem with Phil Neville playing centre midfield alongside as he's next to a creative midfielder, a 'passer' so to speak. Arteta when he's fit but we also need someone who can fill in for Arteta whilst he's injured.

Ever Banega would be perfect.

Moutinho could easily play the Deep Lying Arteta role. Hes only small but he can tackle, hes been very poor recently, his manager has been playing him on the right and on the left.

Everywhere but his real postion.

Please clear me up on this one TB, as I honestly don't know anything about Banega. Is he a defensive midfielder in the Neville/Carsley mode (although much better technically), or a replacement for Arteta in that deep lying creative midfielder role?

I don't understand why he can't? He does it at international level too.

I just think if we needed a good passer to play deeper, Fellaini is the man surely?

The only thing he is lacking at the moment is the speed of thought and the positional discipline, which can surely be taught or gained through experience.

Playing Fellaini behind the strikers is a waste of a good position which could be occupied by someone more technically gifted and creative, like Pienaar... or van der Vaart :P

More of a deep lying play-maker, similar to Arteta really.
