My dog died today on the operating table getting simple knee surgery.

Really sorry mate. Losing a cherished pet is as difficult as losing any loved one. The sheer joyful and loving bond between an animal and it's owner is something really unique and probably not acknowledged enough. My twenty year old cat passed last month, owned her from a boy to a man and it was like losing a family member to me. It gets easier mate, even writing a poem about how you feel about your friend can be very cathartic. Hang in there.

Hoping that's the absolute worst news you get for a long long time mate. Take care.

Awwww dude, that is horrible. Not everyone will get it, but dogs become your best buddy. Hard to lose one to old age. Unexpectedly must be a right kick.

We have lost a few over the last couple of years mate.
No age on a couple of them either.

We had Springers when I was growing up and they are just incredible dags. So clever, so fit and full of energy.
