With them being in europe. Relegated due to financial restrictions and the ability to not attract a higher quality player.

Even with relegation left them in a healthy financial state, being able to beat teams far above their ability with little funds. Playing attractive football and being scared of no one in the league?

That's exactly it. Whatever his mentality or style of play, a club that size won't employ someone who hasn't consistently won things or at least hugely overachieved (meaning actual achievements not the 'achievements' of the last 10 years). United was a one off
