If you click on the link charity shield 1970 v Chelsea which we won - that's when Bally adored his famous white boots as stated he did deviously wear another black pair a different brand painted white - which he got caught out - it his claimed he never got a penny sponsor while he played for EFC
Bally claimed they just never paid him over this descetion on his part ......

• World Cup winner Alan Ball was the first player to wear white boots, he heard a rumour that the boot manufacturer Hummel, were looking for a professional to wear their white boots and were prepared to pay £2,000. He agreed a deal with them and first showcased his distinctive white football boots in the Charity Shield at the beginning of the 1970/71 football season.
