Neither. It's just a fact that the ruling families of Europe came up through the same line, and to get to ghe top at that time required a brutally effective killing machine. Seize power through any means necessary and hold onto it the same.

That isn't especially true - the ruling families of Europe today came up via that line because the rest of the European royals of other lines got executed / killed / stripped of their titles because they eventually developed incompetent (or in the case of the Habsburgs, inbred and incompetent) rulers.

Ours only lasted this long because the Charles II begged to come back in 1660 and surrendered his royal dignity in exchange for a Crown, making it possible for a government to fall without a monarch going with it.
