Oh you poor fool, you have believed what MOTD says.

He didnt look around to see if it was "safe", he looked at the Ref to take action against the utter bellwhiff that was clinging onto him like a moron. When he realised the Ref wasnt gonna do anything he took care of it himself.

I didnt say he stopped to look round if it was safe. It was you that got that from MOTD......

My point is he paused for a second or so therefore it wasn't a snap reaction.

Fellaini gets that sort of attention most weeks as well.

MOTD puppet, I bet youve got pictures of Hansen on your wall.

Why does John terry shout what he does , or someone chant at a match or fight in a boozer ? People get caught up in the moment and get wound up , it's not being an apologist but their behaviour got under his skin and he reacted.

This. Despite their millions, they are humans. Humans get pi**ed off and frustrated sometimes. Doesn't excuse what he did, it's just a rationale for it. He was stupid and both he and the team will suffer for how he behaved yesterday.

Hopefully he will learn from it. Punish him and move on.

Have you ever played or taken part in a 'physical sport' mate ? Because things, confrontations or clashes, cause you to react in a way that normally you wouldn't . Certainly for me if I used to feel the ref wasn't protecting one of our lads I'd try and leave a bit on the tackle or engineer a coming together , in felliani's case it seems to me he felt he was getting the rough end and reacted . As I've said this isn't a defend more an explanation

On your second point I will say there might be something in that but maybe that's when you miss a 'captain' on the field.

Yes I have mate and used to play at a half decent level. And of the irony I was a rough style centre forward so every game had a bit of aggro in it. I'm not an idiot to not understand that. Even the level I played at had a few people watching and proper linesmen so I'd try and be aware that I could get caught if i stepped over the mark. A few times I'd have flipped and got into trouble.

But all that's a world away from being a professional and knowing full well there's dozens of cameras on you. Sorry but that's plain thick and cannot be excused. As said above how Moyes handles it is going to be key to the rest of our season.

I play sunday league and every week theres always someone getting started on and this is 16yr old playing it always happens people standing on your toes or kicking and people lash out . Now there are fines and up to £120 for punch on somebody so most people think about what there doing . Bottomline is shawcross was winding him up all game and he took the bait maybe the headbutt was a bit over the top but it happens give him a 3 match ban and draw a line under it

I think we've all taken part in a physical sport where we have the potential to lose our cool. A few months ago I had a player elbow me in the chest whilst I was marking him on a corner. I got in his face after the incident, but kept my cool because I knew the official was watching. Ultimately, the lad was shown a straight red.

The difference is how one reacts to the abuse. Fellaini needed to keep his cool and not do anything that would have gotten him sent off. One incident I could understand, but the slap minutes later made his actions just selfish, reckless, and stupid. He should know better that his team can't afford to go down to ten men in a match. I'm an American so I haven't seen MOTD. These are simply my observations after watching the match without pundits. Fellaini should've brought the issue up with the official himself or through Jags. Shawcross was all over him during every set piece, and perhaps pointing that out would have drawn the official's attention to it.

If nothing occurs, I'd probably throw a legal shoulder into him or ensure that a well-timed tackle sent him tumbling. Something that will get Shawcross pissed and increase the likelihood that he'd do something rash to get sent off, but I'd only risk earning a yellow at most. To do something twice that not only could've resulted in a red, but also a significant ban, is incredibly stupid.

Credit to Fella for apologizing after the match, but I'm afraid it won't save him from a ban.

It wasn't meant as patronising mate just a genuine question so apologies if you took it like that. I've never competed on television so I'm not certain but I know I've made mistakes that in hindsight you think "why?" so for me the cameras in the heat of battle are secondary . the lad has just reacted, reacted stupidly but reacted just the same.

I think the club have already handled it and done it well in my opinion , apology and a probable fine. Seems about right for me.

Ofcourse he looked round to see if the ref was looking. You'd have to be visually impared to think he didnt.

So Fellaini becomes a moronic thug and lands a nice long ban over Xmas and New Year, which is handy for him. He also pisses off his manager at a time when he is being linked to a big move from Goodison.

Now I'd like to believe that he's not bright enough to work something like that out for himself but after witnessing his behaviour yesterday I can't believe it was nothing more than retaliation.

I'd like to see him fined the wages to match whatever ban is coming, made to train on his own every day over the holiday period and then sold on.

The club is bigger than a toe-rag like that.

what the feck dude, are you high?

No offence taken there mate. I'm just trying to say there has to be half a brain cell in a pro's head when he does soemthing like that. We're going to miss Felli like hell in the Chelsea game for example. He'd have run them riot.

I think that Moyes has to box a bit more clever on some occasions.

WBA used similar 'rough house' tactics on Felli, esp their centre backs. You know that Stoke are going to do that all over the pitc, especially yard~dogs like Shawcross and Huth, so plan accordingly. For example push Osman and Pienaar further up and let them get clattered by their CB's or preferably beaten by skill, pace and trickery. If that doesn't work change it, mix it up, confuse them (cos let's face it, they're hardly 'thinking' footballers). Another option would have been playing Vellios. Oviedo with his pace would have been a far better choice than Naismith who in my opinion still offers / shows little.

Many of us have been in the same situation as Felli i.e. getting bugged, tugged, constantly fouled by less gifted, thggush footballers and many of us at one time (at least) would have re-acted in the same way as Felli.

Felli's was a reaction and not an action and frankly if I'd have nutted an opponent 'Felli style' most of my teammates would have pissed themselves laughing, hardly a classic Kirkby Kiss.

definetly this. I guess it was Jags yesterday but would the neutral, uninformed observer have known ?

As an aside here we should be honest enough to say that Felli wasn't having a great game yesterday either so there was probably a fair bit of frustration going on in that affro of his. It wasn't just Shawcross etc - Felli just wasn't in the game like he can be
