I like that. As much as I think it'd be great if we lined up with Deulefou and Mirralas as 2 wide players running at pace I think having Pienaar out there allows us to have a but more variety going forward- pace and trickery from one side of the pitch and Pienaar drifting in playing threaded balls from the other and allowing Baines to go on the outside.

I really hope Barkley is ready for it - we need someone in the position you've earmarked for him who can create chances for others and break forward when needed. I like Osman but he doesn't have the drive we really need

I think Barkley need the mins and expierence his qaulity is without question he just needs game time, we need to be paitent and allow him to make mistakes in his learning.

Unfortunately not many Evertonians have patience. I am with you and hope he gets a good run out then we may see the real Ross Barkley. Do expect people to point out all of his misplaced passes and how many times he was caught in possession rather than looking for his positives though. I believe Martinez will have him oozing with confidence in no time and it will show in his play. Always thought he looked a frightened lad and scared of making a mistake in case he upset Moyes. Still think he will be brought on slowly but surely this season and watch his confidence grow.

I thought the same, he didn't feel like he could take a chance and express himself. I think the fans would have the patience with him though to be honest as he'll put the effort in. It was players like Bily and Vic the fans always got onto because they didn't try hard enough (Vic was obviously much improved last season).

To be honest 1st half vs Arsenal I thought he was poor but he improved greatly in the 2nd half and did some good things - on here I half expected people to be moaning about him for giving it away a few times etc but it seemed the vast majority were looking at the positives which was good to see.

I think Martinez will bring him on as a player more than Moyes would
