his crossing is not as good as it was before his injury...Dear Seamus was literally our best player last spring.
He's been up and down this season, then he gets hurt on international duty. Far too early to say he hasn't been the same, especially when he was just as good last season upon returning to full fitness.
We've no one leading the front line who can install fear into these weaker opposition teams.
That's why we need to make signing a strong first team striker our number one priority in January.
@catcherintherye
I'd say that were very short on player quality.

Those 4 look class + Mina is pending. So if he performs well then we have 5 players out of 11 who are at a very high level.
Add in Zouma and Gomes and 7/11 sounds promisimg.
The reality is that we lack a DM, a CM and another forward player at this moment in time, all of which are key positions.
With Silva, players either need to step up and perform to his system or they will be moved on and replaced. Its as simple as that.
I'd rather finish 10th and totally revamp the squad (with players of the same quality signed this summer) than land in 6th and only make limited changes...
Ideally we need to finish as high up the table as possible (obviously) and yet recycle most of the squad whilst playing a new system.
Its not easy.
No matter what happens we really need to hope Brands can work his magic and bring in 2 starters in Jan and lets see how Onyekuru performs too...
Everton's office resembles David Brent'sI've put it down as a bad day at the office. Lets look at some positives:
We had 5 shots on target
We kept 11 men on the pitch

We have had the easiest start for years and we are only on 6 points that’s not great
We are pretty much on the same page mate, but I suppose differ on a transition time.
As I said in the article, for me all the players over 25 on Sunday showed their poor form that goes back 12 or in some cases 18 months has little to do with the manager. They have underperformed for 2 or 3 managers. I had hoped Silva coming in would really help them, a training ground coach with an attacking system. Even after just 1 poor performance I now have my doubts.
However I think we have to be careful about how that transition is managed. I considered Moyes when he first came. He actually got a bit of a tune out of a number of players, who probably initially were underperforming and he probably knew weren't in his long term thinking. Carley (who he moved firstly to right midfield then to a DM in a 3), Ferguson, Campbell, Stubbs, Weir, Gemmill, Naysmith etc were all phased out gradually over a 2-4 years period. All of the lads playing the other day were better than the names on that list.
That gave space and a continuity to younger players coming in. I see that as a viable model.
I also think, for me Walcott and Coleman are ok. Coleman offers good leadership skills and at times last season was good (his first game back for example) but this season has been a bit slow. The ideal really is lads like Vlasic and Onyekuru really forcing the managers hand in certain positions.
Zat you’re doing it againI really want to see the u21s get games this season...consistently. we really need to be in a position to punt the ageing non-performing players...
Hypothetically i think were still quite weak and im just putting players into a few random positions here;
Pickford/VirginiaRB -- If Coleman doesnt get back to form
???/Kenny - Mina/Holgate -???/??? --Digne/Robinson
???/Baningime
Dowell/Vlasic - ???/Davies
Bernard/??? - Richarlison/DCL - Onyekuru/Lookman
LCB -- We need 2 players here
DM -- Ideally a deep lying playmaker
CM -- Box to box player
RF -- Another Richarlison ideally
We can look at being miles off or we can look at it as a glass half full. We need all of those players to really perform this season and cement their squad places...enabling us to move the others on.
I'm optimistic that Brands can move out a lot of players and i hope we sign 2 in January. I wouldnt be shocked to see another huge turnover of players in the next 2 windows.
Personally i think another 2-4 years is a non-starter. Its too slow of a transition when looking at the huge costs of players these days along with the benefits of resale values.
Coleman, Sigurdsson and Walcott will all be 30 years old at the start of next season. Coleman is the only one i could see us keeping (as you said) for his leadership skills and i think it would be a good tussle with Kenny for a starting position and he would likely guide him and others.
Stekelenburg
Keane
Jagielka (free)
Baines (free)
Gana
Schneiderlin
Sigurdsson
Walcott
Niasse
Tosun
+ most of the on loan players can be sold.
Ita a huge amount of players out potentially BUT could provide us with a large amount to spend on top calibre players. There seems to be £130mil worth of transfer fees in the players listed (not to mention those on loan) and of course huge wages off the books.
Its a risky strategy as it may cause some disharmony short-term but we could see £200mil available in fees to massively upgrade with say 5 new players.
Its all dependent on whether the young players can cement squad places allowing us to go and sign 1st team starters in the same mould as the ones signed last summer.
Its also a perfect time to clear out these players with Jagielka and Baines going...its like a new beginning.
