Overall I'm disappointed that we failed to address our biggest issue - creativity (or the lack of it). Martinez has been going on about bringing in a number 10 all summer and has failed - I don't know why they've failed, but they don't really have much of an excuse.

Now it is up to Martinez to work with what he has and if it all goes pear shaped, the club only have themselves to blame.

5. Stones saga was a good win but the manager failed to deliver on key promises and hasn't fixed problems he's had three months to fix.

I'd go as far as to say he's had 3 transfer windows to fix it and hasn't

I've gone 4/10 because your transfer rating is only as good as how it improves your starting 11, i don't see how any of those transfers can help change tactics it's gonna be the same predictable way of playing and like for like substitutions, the only player we signed that impressed me is Deulofeu and it's just going to be soooo frustrating seeing him only play the odd 5 mins here and there

please don't get around the swear filter
No panic buying is a bonus; you can't buy what's not available. No expensive carthorses thanks. Keeping Naisy is a bonus.
Yes f-Uck that panic buying when window was only open 3months

And we kept Naismith fantastic I can sleep happy tonight
Roll on Chelsea's maybe Naismith might pass to a few team mates that day
Fk-me

I guess we can all say next Summer our priorities are in 3 positions, should things stay as is and players perform as expected.

1. Goalkeeper - Unless Robles comes from nowhere and makes fools of us all
2. Striker - Was my priority this Summer as we only have 1 guaranteed goalscoring striker. Big issue.
3. #10 - Yes, once again that playmaking, defense splitting talent we failed at this Summer

Distin and Alcaraz off the wage bill - good.
Cleverly - good.
Del - boss.
Mori and Rodriguez - wait and see.
Lennon - good.
Mirallas and McCarthy signing new contracts (not that I was expecting McCarthy to leave) - boss.
Stuck 2 fingers up to Jose and kept Stones - proper boss.
Didn't sign a playmaker - disappointing.

6 or 7 I'd say.
That sums it up perfectly for me. I gave it a 7.

If we were offered £8m for Naismith, could we not have added that to whatever we were willing to pay for Yarmolenko? Tested them with a late £23m bid. Or is that all a bit FM?
Makes sense in my head.
It was never about the money. Everything was agreed and was fine. Player wanted to come...

The problem was that we left it too late in the window for them to find a replacement. This is the sickening part for me. Had we agreed this in late july, he'd be an Everton player now, I'm convinced.

Now we get to see him run down his contract and sign for possibly another English team next year for nothing. Free!!

It's not just about the starting 11. A big complaint from many of our fans has been that our starting 11 is pretty good but we have nobody on the bench if we lose a player. I think that our squad is much stronger now plus we have a lot of talent coming through. Having said that, we are still vulnerable in the striking role (eg if Rom gets injured) and to a lesser extent GK and RB.

We were a signing away from a brilliant window. That is the disappointment.
We have substantially improved the squad in the areas that needed strengthening...bar one.
We know the manager knows this because he has spoken about it.

I can only hope that Gibson, Pienaar and Osman can stay fit between to fit the creative role. From the academy I would like to see Ledson get a chance to show what he can do, I think he is quite like Gibson in style.
