5/10

Middle of the road transfer window.

Outgoings -
Distin - Way past it, could quite clearly see his legs were going much needed wage off the wage bill

Alcaraz - Was never going to cut it here, bambi on ice, typical Wigan player.

Long - Quite bemused by this one, looked like the kid could play. In my opinion offers far more than McAleny.

Incomings -
Cleverley - What's not to like? Free transfer, looks to be a good player for us. Shame he's now injured but a good signing regardless.

Deulofeu - We all know what the lad can do even if frustrating at times, £4.2 million (although with the standard Barca buy back clause) is good business.

Ramiro Funes Mori - Major questions marks over the player, especially for the 9.5 million price tag Everton have paid, could prove very costly for the club if he doesn't live up to the price payed.

Leandro Rodriguez - Unknown player, £500k paid. Could be ok, could be crap only time will tell. Meh!

David Henen - Personally speaking having watched the kid play last year on loan, could prove to be one of this windows best signings for ~£500k. Very classy winger in the making. (That and the way he was brought in through snide tactics from Everton), in my opinion he will make a couple of senior appearances this season.

Mason Holgate (Aka Rizzle Kicks) - If he progresses anywhere close to what Stones has then we'll have a decent player on our hands. For £1 million and going to be nowhere near the 1st team for at least a season it's all a bit MEH!

Positions we're still short in after the window has closed -

Number 10 (Attacking midfield for you old beauts) - Main priority that didn't get fulfilled.

Experienced Centre half (Centre back for you fifa nerds) - Funes Mori won't fill this in my opinion (I will how ever give him my backing in a blue shirt)

Striker - If lukaku get's injured we are in massive trouble.

Goalkeeper - Even if not mentioned by Mr 'Phenomenal' Martinez is a major worry, with Howards star jumps and Joel being scared of the ball we are in a mess here.

I think the important thing is how do our current young players like Stones, Barkley, Lukaku etc 'rate the transfer window'. Because ultimately it is their opinions on whether they are happy or not with the club's apparent ambition (or lack of), that could very well mould the shape of our club in the upcoming years

If this Mori dude turns out to be a dud as predicted by Vickery then it seriously calls into question Matinez's ability to scout talent. In fairness, Moyes for all his faults very rarely got it wrong when spending big money (except for Billy of course!!)

QUOTE="bizzaro, post: 3835840, member: 24589"]If moaning contributed to Everton winning the title then our fans would walk the league.

Agree. People forget keeping mirallas, Mccarthy, stones and garbutt. Imo these were big news too and does keep continuity in the squad. The Yarmolenko story, I think really took the wind out of our sails. It did me. Leaving the last few days all too predictable, hence the deflatedness now. It's a bit uninspiring but solid foundations. As is everton I still had hope to the last minutes that a Turan loan would happen to tide us over til Jan. That said. I do respect martinez for waiting for the right players though - just hope he's still there in January. 7

5 new faces this summer and people are still moaning.[/QUOTE]

Voted 5, but in retrospect probably a 6. Solid, but unspectacular - though I do feel one signing of a playmaker would have really given the entire club a boost.

If we can somehow ship McGeady to Scotland in the next three hours then it's the best we've ever had, like.

Perhaps Martinez was set on one player but that wasn't possible but felt between Barkley lukaku and Naismith and Mirallas had enough.

Especially as we now have proper wingers

Do you still think Liverpool will get top 4 mate ?
I don't know. They shouldn't with the amount Utd spend but I don't rate LVG and I think Utd will struggle. Spurs are also looking a bit rubbish.

So yea I think Liverpool must be favourites however I said at the start of the season Palace would be dark horses. I wouldn't be against them coming close this year. Frankly if we got our act together we could get in the mix too. It will require Martinez to play with a bit more offensive intent and break up the Barry, McCarthy partnership against the weaker sides but it is possible.

It shouldn't really but I think our season will rest on how good Deulofeu, Barkley and Lukaku play. Those 3 have all the potential in the world, we know what the rest offer but if those 3 turn it on we still have a chance of 4th. We certainly shouldn't give up.

Right transfer window is over. I'm back to being positive but god I wish we got Yarmolenko.
