Possible Derby Date set?

Early Derby at home is always a disadvantage. The season hasn't worked its way in and players are still finding form. To have it that early this year with a new manager just getting to grips with his team is a massive disadvantage.

If Everton are constantly agreeing to this state of affairs I'd like to know what the reasoning is.

Both Everton and the Premier League have denied that we ask for and are allowed to play the Goodison derby first but 10 years or whatevber in a row of it makes it seem that its planned that way.

Who bloody knows!

playing any of the promoted sides has its positives and negatives as their is always one team that will go straight back down but theirs always one that does well ie. west brom/swansea

If it's true the Goodison Derby come first for the umpteenth year in a row, questions need asking.

I cant think of a single reason why it'd fall that way - if it's commercial I dont know what it is unless it's to do with catering to Kopite markets somewhere.

This is meant to be it

If this is legitimate, then it also tells us that we're at home on the opening day :) which means Goodison Park packed to the rafters to welcome Martinez for his first competitive match as manager; can't wait!

There has been a rumour for a long time that each club gets to pick 2 games where they choose the rough date and location. One of Liverpool's 2 picks is to play the derby game at Anfield later in the season meaning that Goodison will always be the first derby game. This will only change if Everton turn around and specifically say they want the home game last, then it will just revert back to the random computer draw and Liverpool will have to pick something else.

It also means we are not playing Hull or Fulham in the first game - if its legit.
