Politics and stuff

GOT is a community at the end of the day, it's more than just a message board. That's why I keep coming back. I get why you want to limit the stuff to mainly footie, but the fact that we can log in here, and discuss the most obscure rubbish and have debate on bizarre things is what makes GOT great. Just like Everton are more than a football club, GOT is more than a forum.
Word.

I dont personally bother with politics, I tend to pop my head in but its not a subject I care about, but I think this is a bad idea, for the reasons many others have stated.

I get that its a way of making the forum supporter forum "viable", but I used to sub for max neg rep and cos I like the place, now I just sub cos I like the place, personally speaking, I dont need, nor require perks, maybe im biased cos I voted to close the UG forum, who knows, but others have said it all better than I can above.

I fear this discussion has been high-jacked by the usual agent provocateurs.
Why not report it again then don ? That is what you do isn't it ? Your know, targeting certain individuals and poking them with a stick until they call you for the bellend that you are and then you go crying to the mods to get said person banned. You're a saddo don. ... an attention seeking irrelevant blert. Go ahead report this .

Just having a quick look down the recent/new active (in the last 24 hours) threads in the Ale House, Bruce is basically saying that all of these are now suddenly banned:

Donald Trump POTUS
The Orgreave Enquiry
Basic Income For All
Vietnam '67
BBC News
The "Another Shooting in America" thread

And these are only the threads which are blatantly political/"hot topics" based on their subject matter. As people have mentioned, there are plenty of others with a lot of "political" content.

It's basically going to wipe out half of the interesting discussion in the Ale House so that we are just left with cat GIF threads and Carlos's quick reply box. Easy to moderate, sure, but Jesus...

I haven't said they're banned at all, I've said that we're going to move them to an unregulated part of the forum that is more suitable for topics of that nature. Quite a substantial difference.

In my experience of posting in both Everton and quite a few political threads, I don't believe this to to be the case at all.

To be fair, you haven't posted in a single Everton thread for over a month. I would say across the gambit of members, that kind of ratio is perhaps in a minority. I get that there are people that love talking politics, I'm one of them, but the site isn't a political forum, it's an Everton forum.

He's an utter weapon isn't he. Christmas Message Danger.

It's an Everton site with an Ale House forum that's designed for talking about non-footballing matters Bruce.

I don't understand why moving the discussions to the UG lounge will be any better. But it is very unfair on those who wish to discuss politics and do so in a level headed manner that can't afford to pay for the privilege. I don't think anybody would have a problem if the money issue weren't at play.

I don't think it matters where I post. I read the Everton forum and tend to post in the Ale House for reasons others have already mentioned.

That doesn't make my original point, that I don't see much conflict in political threads, invalid.
