A solution could be that the powers that be allow all political threads to go ahead in the Ale House.

Just thread ban everyone who posts in them.

Is it not possible that you're playing (successfully, I might add) some sort of devils advocate role?

Me ?
Surely not ... well maybe a bit.

To sum up my position

  1. If reports and ( in the halycon days when it existed ) neg rep appear in mod central which are related to political threads then, regardless of who's causing the problem, if you see people in there that you hardly ever see elsewhere on the site, then, as a mod, it's human nature to question why on earth you should be arsed.
  2. When Esk and Bruce were actively engaged in the politics threads, that led to an increase in the threads, which in turn led to a sense of entitlement amongst posters that they were OK. I was never comfortable with that because sooner or later, something would change and we'd get the situation we have now
  3. Apart from the lack of engagement in the rest of the site from a few "politics" posters, my main gripe with those threads is that some Blues have had temp or permanent bans for things said in those threads. Given we're an Everton site, that's something I'm deeply uncomfortable with. Chances are if someone loses it in a politics thread then they'd likely lose it in a Koeman thread too, and get banned anyway, but that's by the by.
My ideal solution would be a Politics forum which was moderated separately to the rest of the site and so being banned from the Politics forum wouldn't result in a ban from the rest of the site. I'm not sure that's technically possible so such a forum might have to be affiliated to GOT in some way rather than being a sub-forum.

TL;DR ?

When you're in an argument and, on the opposite side of the argument you have Clint, Sean, Tubey and Ghost then you can be very sure that you're in the right and they're talking complete tosh :coffee:

I would argue less than 20p per week is a few bob to spare, to support the GOT, or to use the members lounge they even send you a GOT mug fgs - also by clicking on adverts on any thread - it helps to pay for the server it's a great site it has moderators who probably do it at their expense they don't need hassle on certain subjects -if they imposed £10 A year membership leve I feel most would pay it, they genourously leave it at donation level they are the exact opposite to what you are portraying imo they are very fair moderators.
The forum lounge is full of things you may or not like it is certainly not elitist in anyway it is a suggestion by @Bruce Wayne which is feasible idea of common sense to cut the mods workload down!
Everybody can become a keyboard warrior, and things get out of hand including me 99 percent of GOT posters are great it's hard to keep an odd poster in hand on a vast memberships!

Fair point.
*gives it some though, checks down back of sofa.
(can faintly hear this venetian voice banging on about Ducats or something)

Would it be out of bounds to start a thread about the civil unrest around the world and especially in America that took place over the weekend and will likely continue? In the Ale House I mean.

Because he tagged me and was clearly drewling for attention. He definitely checked my answer.
Finners you don't debate politics, you're on a deliberate wind up in that Trump thread and admitted as much to me in a pm. Lesser known posters would have banned for less. I'm glad i don't have to read your twaddle on politics anymore.

Politics has retreated to its safe space where talk is safe and without controvercy. And by controvercy I mean opposite view.
Enjoy your lemmings like Trump bashing threads up there.

Bye.
