Hi all- Im a bit of an old get and dont know much difference between playstation machines. I played on a PS3 and it was superb and made me think about getting one.

I then saw the price and was put off- PS2's are much cheaper but what is the main difference- I understand that the graphics etc are more enhanced but what else.

DO they still make new games for PS2's?

Cheers

I've had a PS3 for a while now. To be honest theres nothing between the PS3 and the 360 graphics wise but the sony has a lot more going for it including reliability. Some games are coming down in price also. There is still games coming out for the PS2 and some games for the PS3 are coming down in price now. My son plays his games on his PC and you cant beat them but if a console is what your after the PS3 is the one to have. Good for Bluray films too. I'd go so far as to recommend it but it depends how serious you are about gaming. I've saved about 300 albums in mines so far and close on a thousand photos and I still have 35gb to spare. I had a 360 before this and had nothing but problems with it and so did a few others I know of but dont know anyone thats had probs with the Sony. If you just want to play games then the PS2 is more than capable of holding its own.

I'm more than happy sticking with my PS2, the availibility of games are wide ranging and more importantly relatively cheap, i'm still stuck on the [Poor language removed] beach on Medal Of Honour after 14 months though !

dude, i feel for you. i completed this game on the pc and loved it. i've not played on the ps2 but if it is anywhere near as good as the PC version then it should be fun.

the beach level is something else. totally amazing. it took me ages until i stopped dying in the first few seconds.

but reactions must be harder with a ps2? with a pc you can use the mouse and keyboard.. i would imagine it would be a touch sluggish with just a gaming pad?

I got the wife an 360 for xmas and its still unopened with her being in hospital,I'm happy enough on our ps2.we have a wei or what ever there called as well they are mainly for the grandson to be honest and the 360 was got for tomb raider the wife is addicted to it we have them all for the p2 but the son in law went on that much about it on the 360 she wanted one.so I wait to see if its any good I can only play manager games if I turn to quickly like I did on Bourne yesterday I go sick much to my grandsons amusement I used to play all games but for the last year this sickness thing has spoilt it,Was playing a game of football on the ps2 scored a goal and was then sick as a pig:lol: I tell you I'm falling to bits:lol:

PS2 is still getting quality Japanese RPGs, such as Persona 4 which is awesome, if you are into that kinda stuff. Other than that all new PS2 games are low budget shovelware. There's a ton of great games out for the system that you can get dirt cheap though such as Resident Evil 4, the Final Fantasy games etc. The PS2s best games are still better than next gen's best games in my opinion.

There is really no difference between a 360 and a PS3 other than cost and that PS3 has a blue-ray player. Both systems get about 90 percent of the same games however from what I've read its the Xbox that gets better ports with less bugginess and less loading times because its easier to program. I hate endorsing anything Microsoft but if I had to choose between the 2 I would get a 360 unless you want a blue ray player.

i certainly wouldnt buy a ps2.

not that there crap or anything but becouse they really havent got much of a shelf life left.some , but not a lot.

ps3 or 360 is defo where your money should be going.
both cracking machines , xbox has the advantage over content and cost (which is handy when you have to buy 3 of the bloody things for the family).ps3 has the advantage with blu ray and web browsing.

i bought my console to play games so i mainly plugged for the 360.(my reasoning being that the whole family will try to hijack the use of a ps3 and its blu ray)

btw any of you lads want to get a bit of peace from the mrs or teenage daughters ?
get fable 2 !!! they will be hooked within minutes and you literaly wont here a peep out of them for days.(until there dog dies on the game anyway)

depends if you have an hd telly or intend getting one.

If you intend getting an hd telly, your going to want to see some hd content on it.

At the moment theres only really sky hd worth considering as far as channels go but if you want to watch some blu-ray or hd gaming, then the ps3 is the way to go.

Ive had my ps3 8 months, but have only just got a 40" hd telly in the sales, but the games and blu-ray are stunning.

If your not man avid gamer or dont have an hd set-up yet, wait till your ready to upgrade your tv, and whack a ps3 with it, my missus uses the ps3 for all her browsing, and I'm going to install linux(operating system) on it and use it part-time as a bona fide pc, with keyboard and mouse.

PS2 still has the best support.

Blue ray addition is a bit overrated and the price has dropped drastically for the blue ray player stand alone. PS3 nice look but way over priced for me not as much fun value games yet.

For me and the economies of scale stick with the PS2 or opt for a X-box360 my personal favourite.
