Players Who Didn't Quite Make It?

Vaughn had what it took - just got bolloxed by injury. Jeffers as well - didn't settle at Arsenal and that was that.

Surprised Michael Ball didn't have a better career - he came through with us when the club was on its aris and was one of the very few players who you would say was genuinely good. Some bad moves and he never really stepped up to a top domestic player.

Billy Kenny, Michael Branch, Francis Jeffers, Danny Cadermarteri, Stuart Barlow, Vellios, Chadwick, Junior(maybe), Silva, Schumacher, Wallace, JPK, Lukas Jutkapolishname, James Vaughan(injuries aside would have been decent) christ the list is endless, see what happens when you expect too much from kids who tear up at youth level. Michael Branch was supposed to be the next Lineker a goal machine he was dog sh!t at top level.

This is probably some what contrevestal but I reckon Wayne Rooney could of being so much more with us. The 2004 euros was just a taste of his talent never seen that spark since

I agree to a point, the Rooney that played for us and loved doing fancy stuff, standing on the ball at WBA for instance, seemed to disappear at Utd. I think he played second fiddle to Ronaldo and was told to be a team man rather than expressing himself, that was left to Ronaldo.

I think he left us too early and think he would have been a lot better if he would have stayed.

True boss player like. He's still a bald fat ugly unfit git and if it where not for his outrageous talent he would be a Sunday league footballer.

I remember watching Chadwick for the reserves a few times, he looked decent - scored some good goals - never quite made the step up.

Danny Cadamarteri, Richard Dunne, Tony Grant.

Grant especially looked a boss little player when he broke in. I remember his partnership with Joe Parkinson getting lots of praise for about half a season - think it was the year we finished 6th under Joe Royle and briefly looked a half decent side. I'm sure I remember reading that Rangers ended up signing him on the recommendation of Andrei Kanchelskis who was also playing there at the time, so I obviously wasn't the only one who thought he looked good.

Was nice to my mum when he gave out the end-of-week awards at Pro Soccer Schools as well. Think it was the year me little brother won most improved player. Always liked how he looked like a waifish Rodney Trotter and all. Like if Nicolas Lyndhurst ate nothing but rice and ciggies for 18 months.
