Was actually a footballer. Always remember our brief foray into the champions league and subsequent dalliance with the europa league with Moyes. He and Arteta were the only players in the team who looked comfortable at that level. Phil Neville and Kilbane ffs.

Perhaps not the hardiest though.

Didn't we release him one summer. Didn't get anyone better in, and then re-sign him? Or was that valente? Saved a month or so in wages I guess...

It was THE most "Everton" thing ever. That's saying something. We released him, signed no one better, so resigned him, then injured his ACL or something in his second game, and never played for us again.

My abiding memory of him is when me and my brother went to get autographs once, Pistone pulled into the player's car park and had his wife and his kids with him. His missus' handbag had on it a giant print of the man himself, shirtless, with his hands behind his head and suds running down his body. It was sight to behold.

i just remember him playing footy when i was a kid an every
time i'd shoot the ball id go 'PISTONEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Really weird player.

Most of the time was no better than average, then out of the blue, he'd have a game, where he'd look like a world beater and then next game went back to being average.

I'd still have him in the team over that clown Martina.

It's good to know that he touched you in a special way when you and your brother were still very young boys.
