You always have to remember that there was no shortage of fans on here who weren't arsed about or were actually pleased that Lukaku left.

There were fans on here claiming his first touch and hold-up play meant he was actually holding us back. No shortage of them. We're talking a next-level grade of stupidity when it comes to football forums. Especially when the player has asked to leave. Few fans that actually rate him are going to waste their time saying "I think he's decent actually and you're all a bit clueless/bitter" right now, because it's obviously not worth the grief. I wouldn't bother trying to look at opinions on their forums at all.

As many have rightly pointed out, Villa fans weren't exactly full of praise for Gana, who went on to be an absolute class act.

Agree with this. The worst thing with forums is over hyping your own players. I think the worst i have seen on Everton forums was fellaini. The world class shouts were real cringe stuff.
But it tends to go that way. Very little middle of the road stuff on forums. Either world class or crap.
Take it all with a pinch of salt.

Think you have to liken it to threads on here when people are resigned to someone leaving, Lukaku was lazy, Barkley a show pony, Stones was surplus to requirements for the money. People just emotionally detach when someone clearly wants out.

Be like our captain Seamus Coleman saying he wants to leave to move to a bigger club, i can imagine the threads on here - "Hes gash anyway etc".

Or maybe that's just our wishful thinking. There's been enough players that's underwhelmed us, reinforced by the club's fans they come from, and lo and behold end up not doing much here.

On each of their forums they don't think much of him from what I can see and been told. I just wish Brands would go for players that have a couple of assets and obvious talent and a better chance of succeeding here. Even on YouTube PEH doesn't come across that well.
