Pienaar's distribution

I think Pienaar is overrated by the supporters. Yes, he has some good qualities, but for instance saying he's got pace, yet he never goes past his marker. Every time he tries, he goes down. Sometimes we get a freekick, usually not. His passing is also often sloppy, the two sloppy passes last night during extra time were no exceptions. He also looses almost every challenge and high ball.

He's not a poor player, but if you take away his tracking back (which is great) what are you left with? Some nice passing but unwillingness to take responsibility. A case of point yesterday was a situation where he was near the penalty area, but instead of trying something himself, he passed the ball back to Arteta who was in worse position.

This what I said on the match thread.

Okay, lot of talk blaming peanuts and he should have been more aware to lose time. However it is the nature of forwards and midfielders to lose possession from tackles or bad passes. This means the opposition can set up an attack. In such instances that is why you have a back four to stop them scoring. In this case on of the back four had not got back and so it was a back 3. But when this happens the defence is weakened and exposed as lats night. Howard IMO was spreading himself to make it harder for VP but it was a belter of a shot. Perhaps Howard should have run at him to put him off and I think that is a possibility, sometimes he does seem to be rooted. The VP goal came from damn near the identical position of gerrard's goal on our right flank. Perhaps this is not Howard's favoured side. BUt you have to ask where was our right back. If Hibbert had been in position he may well have been able to stop VP. Sometimes I do think Hibbert can be slow in getting back, does not seem to have the pace to sprint back unlike Baines IMO.

Pienaar's boss. And for 2mill, a ******* bargin. When he plays at his full game he's a great creative threat and can pick a pass. The best game this season was against the [Poor language removed] on the Monday when he terrorised the left when he broke and beat players plenty of times, and against Spurs in his 1st game back to show how much we missed him.

Cracking player. ****ed up last night, yes. But Van Persi is a qulaity striker, and the hardest striker of the ball in the league. They scored, get over it.
