Loving your work here mate. 'Tards' is my weapon of choice to most of the time when addressing this group of numptys.

He really was not that good. He got the most out of Baines though and Ossie can't do that, so we do miss him, in a way.

Agreed. Pienaar on his own was very one dimensional, lacked pace and was pretty pump.

However, with Baines, he had someone willing to do the legwork and get up and down the wing for him, giving an extra option. Baines made Pienaar look much better than he actually was.

Exactly.

Pienaar was fantastic at short, smart passes, retaining possession and dribbling. That made him the perfect partner for Baines, but nothing more really.

He doesn't have a good range of passing, his shot is poor, and as you said, he isn't quick. Him and Baines were brilliant together though and I do miss that.

Our player of the season when he played in the middle of the park....

He'd be just what we need right now

Errrr...what do we lack right now? We seem unable to string 2 passes together in a full 90 minutes

Yes he wasnt the quickest, but he was ten yards faster than anyone else on the pitch in his head, very clever footballer was Steven

We also seemed to have a bit of a game plan when we used to work the left to fcuk! Now we seem to just go out there and see what happens

You are quite right mate! I'd have him back as, like I said, he got the most out of Baines and we miss that.

However I don't think he was as good as people made him out to be. He was just shining here as... well he was being looked at under the right light, if you know what I mean. In other teams, in different positions, with different pairings... he's never looked as good.

And I'm also eager to see what Drenthe and/or Gueye can do with Baines.

You would play Drenthe or Gueye over McFadden!?!?!?

Pienaar is class and we miss him but he is moving in a different direction to us now.
Never mind though bill is a true blue and it does not matter which league we end up in we will always have the great bill leading us

It wasn't just the flicks and tricks. He had a great work rate and intelligence too. I recall one goal, I believe it was Saha against Tottenham. Pienaar gave the ball to Baines, and went into a full sprint taking his marker with him. That freed up a passing lane for just a split second and allowed Baines to center to Saha, who had the time and space to rifle it in bottom corner.

Little things like that made the entire team more effective, even if Pienaar never entered into the stats himself.

But no use discussing it now. He's gone and won't come back. Let the new boys try and replace him.
