Ross got picked for England when he played for Everton. There is undoubtedly a bias through towards the top teams. Managers know that the media will hound them for leaving certain players out but not other ones. Southgate is actually a bit braver than most.

Players get picked from the big boys because people just assume they're better, although Dunk getting picked ahead of Keane is a laughable decision
