I cant see the point.I was not overly impressed by Carter in the past he was one of the people that let us drift into our present position:(

Not really, someone clearly needs to steady the ship, act as an impasse, Crack some [Poor language removed] skulls.

Sir Phil has the experience, the respect and the knowledge.

Good move.

At a time when things seem to be falling apart, getting someone with his experience back can only be a positive move really.

Doesn't stack up to me. If it was to steady the ship and offer advice surely Mr Whippy Head could do that from his position as 'lifetime President'?

Maybe it's a legal requirement that the board has to be back up to strength with the departure of Pukka Pies...and Elstone can't be co=opted because he's acting CEO?

You're dead right there, Ghost. And he could begin with Moyes and Kenwright. Get the boys back as bosom buddies and watch things improve on the pitch.

Never go back it's not the same

I smell burning.
Carter's what, pushing 80? He retired from his second stint as chairman four years ago to become 'life president' which should have assured his continued day to day involvement in the club.
Why return to a full time job unless there's a serious problem that requires someone with his experience to be in a position with some legal authority?

And the answer is...apparently there has to be 3 diretors in situ to hold an EGM...and Robert'look-at-all-my-billion-dollar-deals'Earl wont be visiting these shores anytime soon.

Ah well, we got there in the end.

Nice one. So we can expect him to resign again directly after the EGM?

I don't care about all you Nay-sayers.
