For the money we got him for, he's been a decent player for us. There are plenty of players out there who cost more and do less. However, his influence goes far beyond what he does on the pitch. He is the model professional- I remember reading an article about him when he first joined us and did extra training which the rest of the squad weren't used to, but which is now the norm. That is the influence he has had - it's huge, almost unmeasureable.

He's an average right-back, but a brilliant leader. Add in his versatility to be able to play in defensive midfield/leftback/centerhalf and he is one of our most valuable players. I hope he has a few more years playing for us yet.

The worst part of his game is the - look up front, look down at the ball, composure, annnnnnd HOOF!!!

The best part of his game is his stepovers. He's like Dhalsim mixed with Ronaldo, I fear a move to the Bernabau in the summer...

Mercenary.

I hated him when he was playing for Mach. U, he never smiled and looked like an old fart. But as he has been at Everton for some time I've been impressed by his professionalism. He`s a great leader and kept Bale quiet.

Read what Rednapp and Moyes hade to say about him:

Will Pip be THE captain as Ratcliffe was ? Will he be a Everton hero ?

I go up-an'-down with him , me .

Sometimes he's [Poor language removed] an' should never play for us again . OTHER times , he's EXACTLY what we need .

As for Ratters though , he'll never be in THAT league . Least not for us , but Id love to see him lifting a Trophy of some description .

I share similar feelings, although he's been in a good vein of form recently (the last three matches specifically).

Is right what Redknapp said about Neville and Bale though. If you were going to pick one of the best players in the world at the moment Bale would be one of them. And Neville neutralised him. Impressive stuff.

Neville probably looked him up and down, and said "are you human or ape?"

He's THAT professional.

total contract and transfer fee is just under £17m, not including extension he signed til 2012, which would add approx another £5.2m

( based on the suggest wage of 55k pw he is supposadly on..)
