I know many people hate the royals (I'm not a big fan myself) but ultimately Philip was a husband, a father, grandfather and a great-grandfather who has just died and will have many people grieving for him. I'm just saying that I hope this place has enough class to not go all twitter and descend into the gutter over a 99 year old who has literally just passed away.

Don’t think people are celebrating or taking joy. It just doesn’t impact a lot of people in any meaningful way, and the predictable fawning of the media is a bit sickly to some.

I was genuinely more affected when Paul Ritter off of Friday Night Dinner died this week, as that programme made me laugh.

For what it's worth, I don't think people are mocking his death so much as they are the over the top reaction of people to his death. His death is as sad as anyone's death, but do we need to go into several days worth of mourning as a result? It strikes me as in incredibly bad taste given how many people have died of Covid and no such memorials have been offered.

Especially when it's used as such a spectacular patriotic smokescreen. Already heard 4 or 5 people mentioning his lifetime of service to this country. This country propped up his incredibly wealthy lifestyle whilst he popped around the world making racist and grim comments. And then we're asked to miss Homes Under The Hammer for him not being patriotic enough to get to a good British 100
