Phil Neville is a model skipper but could he also be the Toffees' next boss?

He is an obvious future manager in the making and he ticks all the boxes anyone is looking for in an aspiring coach.

This thought has no doubt crossed Moyes' mind and he probably sees him as a managerial protege.

With Moyes so well entrenched at Goodison Park, Neville may even emerge as his potential successor in future years as he winds down his playing career.

And if he did become manager, Evertonians could rest assured that he would continue to give them his all.

have always maintained this and not even as manager at first a coaching role maybe and then promotion to boss! and indeed even if nev is very popular on here hes been a truly brillant captain and always gives 110% wen hes wearing that royal blue jersey i dont expect him to start every game this year but when called upon im sure he wont let us down

I think he's got all the leadership qualities and having played under both Ferguson and Moyes you would imagine he's learnt a lot about tactics and man management.

Hopefully Moyes will be with us for a long time but if he isn't, for whatever reason, I'd be ok with Neville becoming our manager at some point in the future.

Before taking him as manager for Everton I'd like to see him have some level of success elsewhere. Just hiring someone because they happened to play for your club is silly.

I think he has managerial qualities but I wouldn't want Everton to be his first job. I believe everyone has to serve some kind of apprenticeship in the lower leagues first with limited budget just to see if they can hack it without the money and improve whatever team he takes over. I can't recall any ex-players taking a big club over as there first job and being successful.
