My point was that we'd hardly notice the difference, and I think that's borne out to a degree.
If I'm honest, I think he does add slightly more security. I'd rather we had a Jagielka/Funes Mori CD pairing and either leave Stones at RB or leave him out altogether and play Oviedo or Galloway at RB.

I'd say that game was fading from us before the injury, but its interesting that our resolve returned defensively with Besic's inclusion, probably the player with most similarities to mccarthy

McCarthy was keeping them at bay almost singlehandedly. I think you're right though. We don't defend as a team well so it we need at least one lid running around and getting stuck in.

and besic coming in seems to have stabilised things and besic is v similar to mccarthy....
The fact we conceded 4 at home to Stoke and 3 at home to Leicester with a defensive shape that was all over the place, backs me up though
