He is world class at the moment
i havent seen a better defender around this season
one step ahead of torres all game!

credit to joleon too
terrific defending today
stuck his body on the line for the club

He is a god, he really is a supreme specimen of a centre half and 3 of our back 4 should be international regulars, not that I care because I despise England but it would be good to see him recognised for what he is. The pair of them play together week in week out, thats got to be beneficial to England, and lately Jags is better than Terry, in fact, he has been THE best centre half in the league. Go ed Jags lid

Jags is a far cry from his first preseason match with us against Real Salt Lake a few seasons back.

I never anticipated him being this good but he sure has taken his chance and hasn't looked back.

Good on him, good on Moyes for sticking with him, and great for Everton.

Capello was there yesterday i bet he couldnt help but be impressed. Hes proven solid at the back now to add to his game because he could be even better.

He's only 26, lots of time to improve and add to his game. Defenders get better with age, especially players like Jags.

He's the complete defender for me, he has everything. Just his distribution that needs work.

In Lescott, Jags and Yobo we have three excellent centre backs, probably our most competitive area of the squad. I used to worry about not having Stubbsy in the side (a leader) but these boys have stepped up now, they are getting better and better.

Rodwell is coming through as well, he's going to be some player.

I agree with all that mate, and on his distribution but his desire attitude, grit, determination are qualites to behold as much as i like Yobo i think we've struck gold with the blend of Lescott and Jags in the centre. Quality and Grit.

A point that is often missed is that he can also switch from left side to right side with ease, allowing either Yobo or Lescott to play.

That said if this season has proved anything to me its your only as good as your last game in defence, JoLo was world class this time last year and all of a sudden he was castigated at being [Poor language removed] in the first ten games this season.

Agreed, it's a good combination. Competition is key for me, all three of them are top quality defenders and they all work well together. Whoever is playing well should play really.

Baines coming in and showing good form has made it much more interesting though. Hibbert also doing well at fullback as well. It makes it so much more competitive and that's key to getting the best out of players.

Good point about him moving from left to right centre back. I've noticed Yobo always plays right centre back, with Stubbs, Weir, Jags and Joleon that's where he's always played. Maybe it's because he's not confident using his left foot, I couldn't say to be honest.

That criticism of Jolo is misplaced. He was played out of position and I have always said he is not an LB. However must be quite few clubs out there with green eyes looking at our CBs. Just to say, the RS don't have anything as good as ours either.

As I've said before he was better in his season in the prem for Sheff Utd. He didn't have anyone like a Yobo/Lescott to help in defense, he had to jump to the midfield when they were behind and even play had to a little goal. So he could still raise his game somewhat, which is a scary thought.
