What a servant he has been for the club and 5 years ago was one of the best defenders in the prem. unfortunately now age has caught up with him and is now past it.

Moyes really drummed into them that mediocrity is the norm for this club and these two have applied his philosophy ever since he left.

Honestly he was done 2 years ago when he gave away 3 pens in the space of a week.

He has never been a captain and never should start for us again.

Holgate has not played CB in a 4 man backline at a decent level. He should definitely get a chance since he can actually move quickly but it isn't guaranteed to work. Connolly isn't a CB and throwing him in would be a disaster

Played there for us with Williams, when Allardyce first came in and we went on our best run of form.
He has pace, which allows him to cover good partner and make up for any mistakes.

..it was and it illustrates everything I keep saying about athleticism and powers of recovery. Defenders with Rolls Royce engines pick that type of ball up in cruise control. It’s so obviously missing in our team all over the pitch but was never addressed by our previous DoF. Amazing really.
