I don't like it, he's not a midfielder and doesn't have the right attributes to play there. People think because he's a good defender he'd fit the role, he wouldn't. Would Tony Hibbert be a good midfielder, again no he wouldn't.

You need awareness, you need on and off the ball intelligence and you need to be comfortable on the ball. Jagielka has neither of these attributes, he'd take about 5 minutes to work out what he needed to do with the ball when he got it, he never showed for the ball and he kept giving it away.

Why not just buy a defensive midfielder? 5/6 million could get us a proper midfielder, someone who's played the role consistently and understands what has to be done.

Jags is a defender, don't ruin his promising Everton career and putting him in a position he's not capable of filling. He was a decent Championship midfielder but failed to make the grade in the Prem and therefore was moved to centre back where he revelled.

Neville and Jagielka shouldn't be our first choice defensive midfielders, if they are then where [Poor language removed], simple as.

No one really knows if Jags can play in the midfield becasue he's never had the chance. Though I'm a little perplexed why we haven't bought a defensive midfielder (its why I'm not too keen on why we want to spend 15M on one). Its one position in which you can get a solid veteran in come and do the job admirably, on the cheap. Unfortately Gilberto (1M) would have been nice pickup.

Did you not see him at Villa away? He was like a little boy lost in midfield

Metalist Kharkiv, Boro, Villa, Blackburn, Liverpool etc.

He had enough chances and failed dramatically, a good centre half but a woeful woeful midfielder.

Maybe I was just getting overly optimistic. I can't argue with what you have said bud. I will let boro slide though. :dodgy:
