Does anyone? We'd never make a signing if we dithered worrying about whether they'll work out or not. The experts think they know what they've got and that's good enough for me. As for Walsh, look at the pic of Michael Keane shaking his hand in his thread and the look of respect on his face. Walsh clearly played a huge part in that deal and others. He's been mentioned by some of the players we've signed as being a very useful part of the process. (No links or owt, check twitter and other such nonsense).

I don't mean to suggest Walsh hasn't been an integral part of these transfers, but I wouldn't take too much notice of what players say in those unveiling interviews. They've been very heavily prepped by the comms people and told the right things to say.

Truth is we don't know how important Walsh has been, just as we don't know how much of last seasons shambles was down to Kenwright and Elstone. As usual, people feel the need to say x is the best thing since sliced bread and y is a complete waster, despite not having the faintest idea of the inner workings of the club.

I'm pleased with our business so far, and anyone who has been involved in it should be applauded in my opinion.

That's fair enough. He's in a lot of the signing on photos too though and you can tell the player has dealt with him and been impressed by him. It's pretty obvious from the looks on their faces that they respect the guy. I think he's been massively important to us. Ask yourself this... Have we ever done such business? Been so effective in the market? I know a lot of that is down to having the funds, but without Walsh we'd have dithered and dallied and been beaten to the punch.

I guess most of that is just my perception of things though. Not saying I'm ITK about this stuff.

Doesn't change the quality or the price. The Everton we've known the past ten years would never have closed this deal. Not at this price.

That is Walsh's role

Amongst other things.

He will have a say on youth recruitment, scouting staff, and he will also be given specific positions Koeman would like, such as a right footed left winger for example. Koeman will tell him what age range, price range, height, speed, etc etc what sort of player he wants, and it's then upto Walsh to find a list of targets. Koeman will get the final say on any transfer. Walsh I imagine also plays a part in negotiating the deal

His job is to work with Keenan to build the best Everton team possible. He may have a longer timeframe in his objectives. Cannot see that he has to find hidden gems at all.

In terms of who is doing well, I think the team are, Moshri, Koeman, Walsh, Contract Dave... all pushing in same direction.

I'm not overwhelmed though. It will take sustained effort to become one of the the CL 7.

Fair point but is that down to Walsh?

Koeman tells Walsh what he wants, Walsh identifies the players, koeman speaks to the players (convinces them to join) Walsh completes negotiations, with kenwright adding the personal touch I've no doubt. Talking about the history and tradition of the club.
That's my take anyway.

Possibly. Doesn't meet the work permit criteria yet though.
