Ummm I think that was spuds who won the cup with the Ricky Villa goal. One if the most enjoyable finals of my youth, apart from the soft lads from the south winning it.
@Yid4life ?

Yes mate. We won that after a replay. Villa got subbed in the first game & played a blinder in the replay. Good times.

Brilliant story of when he scored against Man City on his return and didn’t celebrate ...Kendall said to him when you score for Everton you celebrate like you’ve scored for Everton!

Sorry - absolutely correct. Senior moment there - it was against City!! Yes one of the best finals ever - not as good as 66 of course.

The amount of crocks and has-beens Howard signed, he would have been sacked after one window! That is why, regardless of our opinions of individual players, we have to let the manager crack on and meld them into a team!
Sometimes it goes to show how much we DONT know about football

A cracker player.

Like Colin Todd, Brian Kidd, arrived at the end of his career, but still class.

Alway's gave 100%, bombed forward at every opportunity, and great on the ball.

Integral part of a superb team that won the league. I really can't remember any shockers from Paul Power that season. What I do remember is things like this

Inchy. God I loved that man. Still do. his (our) third goal here is great, and I always used to stand in that corner of the Street End, so he's running toward me looking just like he does in my avatar.

1984-1985 was all about style, technique and skill - we quite literally obliterated the opposition in about 95% of our games, and we basically started with the same 11 players every game.

1986-1987 was all about fighting spirit and depth of the squad. We were forced to down tools and fight all the way. Yes the skill and ability was still there and we were still an exceptional side, but it was a totally different title winning feat. AND PAUL POWER was integral to that, and personified that fight and will to win. Squad rotation and man management from Kendall was brilliant.

Thanks for your excellent insight, Sir. To answer your question, I was 2 when he left Everton, so yes, "I don't know".

From his description, it very much sounds like we could do with a few Paul Powers in our team at the moment.
So why compare him to Cuco Martina?

Paul Power was miles better, and won the league.
