Current Affairs Paul Nuttall...Bootle boy made good..or a bad example of a Scouser ??

just watched that ta, pretty grim all around the town surely there are some nice bits to show?
for all that lads way of coming across, there in a nut shell is what is really happening people just don't think anyone gives a toss about them, cant really just blame the Tories either under labour the place and people would be just the same.
Look at places like Kirkdale nearer home just been left to rot for decades under both lots, how can you convince people its worth voting when there area is going down the pan around them, not having a go at kirkdale by the way was born there and spent/ spend most of my life there, you could substitute it for anfield/ Walton or most of the north end of Liverpool,parts of sefton, knowsley ect its been labour since before I was born, were is the proof that voting labour or anybody else makes any difference.

I teach over in Knowsley, probably one of the most deprived schools in the country and the children are amazing. I couldn't speak highly enough of them but you just know for the majority their life is probably already mapped out.

A lot come into us at 4 years old with little language skills, they're already well behind their more affluent peers and how we bridge that gap is anyone's guess. You can throw all the money you want at it, the difference it makes is negligible. There needs to be a clear strategy on how we can improve these more deprived areas, how we can make a difference. What is it? I'm nowhere near bright enough to come up with anything but for the sake of the country someone's got to.

good post , have said before when I used to help out in my kids school, sadly there were kids in there that you knew , and have turned out that way later not to have a chance in life, lots of reasons,even trying to get them to play was a struggle sometimes, one kid used to just sit there no matter how much I tried, lets build something ,nothing, play footy , nothing I used to be a care worker and just couldn't fathom him out on any scale that I had come into contact with, asked the teacher because it was really sad to see, what sort of childhood is it when you cant play? just said unfortunately his mum just sits him in front of the tv every night and he hasn't had any chance to interact with anybody i knew her she was hardworking always had a job, not the brightest and didn't have the skills or knowledge to realise there was a problem or how to fix it.

You are right about it being left to rot for decades. I was back in Liverpool last year and drove around all the old haunts and was saddened to see the state Kirkdale was in. As you say, left to rot, which was Thatcher's policy for the whole of the city, as evidenced by the Government papers that hit the National Archive after 30 years, showing she and Geoffrey Howe decided to let the city go into a 'managed decline'.

This fella wouldn't look out of place in this daft election here in NI. I feel I should vote this time so plan to later. But literally I'm having to look down the list and try to work out who of the non sinn fein candidates is the least terrible. And I'm struggling!!!

Although it's great to see a Scouser leading a party that got twice as many votes as the Lib Dems at the last general election two years ago, I could never vote for Ukip or Mr Nuttall.

I bumped into Mr Nuttall in London last year while I was with my young grandson and I got chatting to him. While he came across as a sincere and amiable man and interacted really well with my grandson, his politics is not my politics.
