At a push we could have Pat Jennings in goal as he signed for us when he was around 40 yrs of age I think. Bought as cover for 86 Cup final but didn't actually play for us. Also Kenny Sansom as left back.

Past their best doesn’t have to mean they were poor for us (albeit most were)
Martin was playing for England and in the champions league prior to joining us he’d lost his place in both teams before coming to us.

Good point, personally still think Martin was better than him both at his peak and when playing for us, but by all means put him in your own past their best 11

He was never that good and was with us at 24-25 - theoretically he was at his peak, then he absolutely fell off anyway.

If he had a better attitude he could've been a fantastic player, but it wasn't to be.

Personally I’d argue his head fell off when Madrid signed him. Threatened to take Feynoord to court if they didn’t sell him and ultimately refused to play for Madrid when the fans turned on him as Marcelo started to emerge, before being farmed out to Hercules, then us.
Enjoyed watching him play when he was on form mind, goal against Fulham stands out for me.
