I really feel for the two GB pole vaulters. In PV or high jump, not clearing your opening height looks like a silly mistake when it goes wrong but we don't appreciate how much one serious attempt takes out an athlete. Even if they expect to easily clear a height, they can't put in 50% effort and go all day. Then they have to be physicaly brave, physically fast and strong, absolutely confident Then they have get a dozen actions technically perfect in less than a second. Then add pressure like a penalty shoot out in a world cup final. I hope they find a way to get over the disappointment.
