Pardew- In talks with Palace

I know Pardew is not flavour of the month with Evertonians, but I think he handled all the abuse he got with a lot of dignity and bet he can't wait to start at Palace.

A great quote on TS radio was that Pardew will be loved at Palace almost as much as he loves himself! lol

Nah, he's not a great one but he's better than average in this league. Will probably keep them up.

I mean Newcastle do have more points than us this year with less resources.

Is this true though?

They seem to have bought half of France over the last 5 years. Sure they must have a bigger net spend than us.

Pardew is not loved at Palace. He was an average player who was seldom first choice. Since he left us he has been an utter blert but he is an upgrade on Warnock/Freedman/Holloway/Burley (but not Pulis).
Now confirmed thanks to the generosity of the MASSIVEMASSIVEMASSIVE horse punchers who need a Tardis to go back to when they last won anything.
Meanwhile, at plucky little Palace, blah blah blah......

Bit shocked to see on a Palace forum that the majority polled said they would be booing Pulis when they play West Brom.

Weird way to treat a guy who kept the team from certain relegation.

1.Relegation wasn't certain.
2.Staying up had a bit to do with the players.
3.What else do you do when your manager wrecks your pre season preparations by flouncing because the Chairman won't give him millions that he can't afford? We've been in administration twice since 2000.
I won't boo and I'm grateful for last season, but Pulis is for Pulis as WBA will find out.

It's not certain that we won't win the league this season either mate.

There are people who used to post on here who unfortunately don't anymore that got a lot of solid information about Pulis and his issues, he apparently felt like he'd been screwed over and that promises had been broken, hence why he left.

They seem to have bought half of France over the last 5 years. Sure they must have a bigger net spend than us.

Over the last 5 years, since they came up, they've spent 7 million net to our 4 million in transfer fees. Most of their players in were funded by sales (cabaye, ba, barton, nolan, carroll, enrique etc.).

They've spent 99 million to our 88 million in gross but that's because they've earned more by selling.

Other the same 5 years they've also spent another 2 million on agents compared to us. We tend to be the 10th biggest spender on agents and they tend to be the 9th.

So last 5 years, they've spent 5 million more on transfers. So a million extra a year.

But we pay bigger wages. 69 million last year to their 64 and over the 5 years about 3 million a year extra. So if you can offer bigger wages, that gives you more options in terms of what players you can bring in (Arsenal for instance managed to stay in the top 4 for years while not buying much on the back of paying huge wages).

So in terms of agent fees, transfers and wages, we spend about 2 million more a year on our playing squad then they do on theirs.

Which isn't much but we're really really good at being effecient with money so matching us on slightly less is quite impressive.

Pardew is literally the only manager to finish above us in the last 8 years who hasn't had a budget more than twice as big as us. Teams who can't spend 3-4 million for every million we spend don't really ever do better than us and for one season his newcastle team did.

So I don't think he really is a terrible manger. Not a great one obviously but he has something about him.
