The thing with Maldini was he spanned multi eras of football, anyone else remember the Italian defences in the early 90s, they were for the purists but also superb in their tactical technique for the time.
Then you look at the era of full backs he grew into when it became a more offensive hybrid position in the late 90s to mid noughts. He never missed a beat really.
His Dad was handy too, think he won the World Cup if my memory is right.
