Out with the old, in with the new

I don't get the Pienaar bashing... He always puts in a shift and has never seemed remotely gash to me ever..... Osman on the other hand...

I don't buy the tiredness thing either.... Look at tennis players over 5 hours matches, sometimes up to three in a week, then they do it all again the next fortnight....

90 minutes on a football pitch twice a week hardly compares...

Nor me

Have you ever played either of those Sports?

If so then tell me which one comes with a chair.

Average distance covered in a five set tennis match = 3 miles
Average distance covered in a 90 minute football match = 7 miles

Yeah, covering more than twice the distance in a third of the time with no breaks hardly compares....

No breaks?? Have you forgotten about half time? And distance covered doesn't tell the whole story. Changing direction, accelerating and stopping is more tiring than running in a straight line as I'm sure you're aware.

Depends entirely on what your definition of tiring is, but to try and compare tennis to football and say that footballers aren't as fatigued is stupid.

Exactly, plus the physicality. People who don't play other than on the park with there mates etc can't grasp how when you're against fit strong athletes you have to hold, push, grab and basically fight for every ball as hard as you can.

It's harder than it looks.

You talking about tennis or playing centre mid?

I though Pienaar had a good game. Osman had some errors yes, but I see he's the new Hibbert for the dummy throwers.

Here's hoping we start to set less of the remaining relics from the Moyes era - Osman & Pienaar.

The future might be bright under Martinez. Stones & Barkley may well feature more regularly and get the chance to show us what they're capable of.

So far, so good.

I genuinely can't wait to get back to the UK next week (down to single figures now!) and for the season to start.

Pienaar isn´t as young as he was but you have to remember he´s carried us at times since Arteta left. He´s not a player who´s able to work like a donkey for 90 min. His main asset is linking play and keep up the tempo of the game, and at that he´s still one of the best in the premiership and definetly one of our best players.
