Our Next 5 Games: Make or Break for Koeman?

He's not got two three years if form keeps up. The club will care more about remaining in the league than how much of would be to sack him. Come on koeman fix it please. Our nxt two games are going to be toxic to say the least.

I'm not looking further ahead than the next game.

Ideally a good result against Arsenal would do wonders for confidence but I think we just want to see some passion from the team.

If the fans can walk away from the ground (screen in my case) feeling the team has had a go, we'll all be more optimistic about our possibilities.

Obviously they'd then have to sustain it.

Lets be honest, Arsenal and the RS are going to do us dry.

Like you say though, a performance and a modicum of effort wouldn't go amiss.

Between now and the FA Cup 3rd round in the first weekend of the new year, we have the following fixtures:

13/12 Arsenal (H)
19/12 Liverpool (H)
26/12 Leicester (A)
30/12 Hull (A)
02/01 Southampton (H)

It appears, to my eyes anyway, that this is not just a crucial point of our season as we look to arrest this horrible slump we are in, but also crucial for Koeman to prove that he can turn things around. Failing to register any victories from these games would undoubtedly leave us in a relegation scrap. However, an upturn in fortunes could give us a spark for a late charge for maybe 7th place and EL football.

For Koeman this is a crucial period for his long term future at the club. As far as I'm concerned, as long as we didn't end up in a relegation scrap this year, then he would be given the first half of next season to prove we are on the up. A bad christmas and he will be under immense pressure. Is Moshiri going to back a manager in January who has saw the side actually regress from last season. I wouldn't be so sure myself.

So this is going to go one of 2 ways over the next month or so. We are either going to see an upturn in our form, consolidate a solid position in the top half of the table, and put ourselves in a position where we might actually be able to convince good players that there's something good about to happen at Everton.

Or otherwise, we are going to see a continuation of our slump, landing us in a dogfight at the bottom of the table, with a manager on the brink of being dismissed.

Which way is it gonna go?

He's going to get a minimum of two years of his three year contract, by which time he'll have no excuse if we're not much closer to the established top 6.

Big window ahead, and an even bigger window next summer - I remain totally confident Walsh and Koeman will deliver.

Ordinarily yes, he would get at least till next Christmas. But imo the only way he doesn't deserve time is if he leaves us in a relegation fight come the new year. If this happens I think he's in trouble and to be honest can have few complaints. Unfortunately given our upcoming fixtures and current form it's a possibility. We need a couple of wins and very soon to arrest this horrible slump.

Big and even bigger might be understating it, especially if the current lack of results continues and we were to drop to 12th or lower.
Having gone hard for RK and got him and then supported him with the respected SW, let's hope they do deliver.

He's going nowhere until next year and possibly even the year after . Let's judge him this time next we need stability.

The difference between the side Moyes inherited and the one Koeman got is simple. Moyes got a poor side that would always try their woeful best and give their all even if it was crap. Koeman has a team of posers and wasters who think they're better then they actually are and couldn't care less about the club or the fans.
Yeah there is a lot of truth in that mate and application/grit is in seriously short supply when the slightest bit of adversity strikes. But things change fast. A slightly unexpected in your face effort on Tuesday and a break in front of goal and confidence could increase. We are not playing Barcelona after all!!!!!

The next few weeks are dangerous territory for Koeman. Let's face it, the first team are horrible at the moment, he desperately needs a result Tuesday - the late pen against United deflected some criticism - but I'm not sure that his ideas have taken us any further. We lack identity. The pressing across the pitch against Spurs on the first game was impressive - but we couldn't keep it up on the day - we heard from RK about flaws in the first teams core fitness - not sure I've seen evidence of an improvement.

Won well at West Brom with an inspired substitution in the first half and in fairness looked a good side against a demoralised Sunderland. We had a run of fixtures at the start of season that gave rise to complacency....in the squad and in Koeman's abilities....because our pre season work was barely above average....the Dresden weekend showed that.

So, time to stand up Big Man and earn your corn because despite my willingness to give you time, the early signs aren't great - on or off the pitch given your unusual approach to how you represent yourself in the media. I've previously posted that the players also need to accept a greater responsibility - it's not individual mistakes though that are losing us games - it's just that we never seem sure of what our approach is to winning games. Are we pressing and hardworking high up the pitch, are we counter attacking relying on pace and guile? Or, are we unsure, confused by a constant change in formation which makes us slow in possession and vulnerable to any any pressure due to better opponents tactics?

January may give some relief, certainly player transactions will feature, but unless we act and play as a team, professional sport can be cruel.
