Our Next 5 Games: Make or Break for Koeman?

OK.
So answer me this one. We have so far played 15 of the other 19 sides in the league. Our next 4 games see us taking on Arsenal, the children of the corn, Leicester and Ull. How many points do you think those games will yield?

I have no idea. What happens after those 4 games?

Season could be over in Jan, when did that last happen?
For me it was when we had 40 points when we got fourth place 2005. I was able to relax so early in the season knowing we weren't going to be relegated. Obviously the added bonus was that we kept the good form going until May.

I don't want him sacked. I think he needs at least a full season if not two but how he deals with the current state of things will be telling.
When we've gone 2 up front, Valencia/Rom, we've looked better recently. Also think everyone would like to see some youth in the starting 11 as very few of our senior players have played well enough to keep a place.
Let's not judge him for the mess he's in, but how he deals with it.

i just cast my mind back to how Moyes energised Smith's team that looked like it might well go down and he had such an instant positive impact. Honestly not expecting miracles in just 15 games or so but it is not too much to expect a bit more umph and passion to be seen.
The difference between the side Moyes inherited and the one Koeman got is simple. Moyes got a poor side that would always try their woeful best and give their all even if it was crap. Koeman has a team of posers and wasters who think they're better then they actually are and couldn't care less about the club or the fans.

Just seems to be waiting to work miracles with a cheque book and let money be the answer. It is always part of the answer of course here seems to be little effort going into "I had better do more with these lads even though I don't rate them because this is what I have to work with at the moment"

And when Joe Royle came in for Walker the response was instantaneous.

Apologies on here for being over pessimistic, but there have been a few instances over the years whereby teams have gone into free fall as early as October and have been relegated. Pre Premier League there was a Man City side in the eighties who after a decent start fell into bad habits and after a defeat at Brighton if I recall correctly, a few papers forecast their possible demise.
So before the lynch mob start looking for the pitch forks, there have been precedents.

When Martinez took over he has Moyes' well drilled defence and linked with his new attacking style it all came together nicely. By the end of his tenure those defenders looked completely inept and that's what Koeman has been left with. IMO he'll probably need a year to get Martinez's bad habits out of their system too.

Exactly, the problems with this team can't be fixed overnight. Just like Martinez didn't wreck it overnight. Hopefully Koeman is given time to do just that but I do think he'd better off binning practically the entire squad if possible. Half of them are to old as players to change their style again at this stage of their careers and the other half are either not arsed or just plain garbage.

Actually I think we were all levelling the same "gutless", "not arsed", "coddled mercenaries" and all the other adjectives we level at this current lot back in the dog days of Walter's reign.....especially after Boro in the Cup.

Moyes made a silk purse from the perceived pig's ear.....time for Koeman to do the same.

he's got two years I reckon, minimum is this season. the club is in limbo. all waiting to see what happens next with regards the chairman, the ground, the marketing and the investment.
this seasons summer was a mixture of incompetence and farce, so really we need to totally start again, think he'll come good,

I definitely agree 100% with your last point. With the Smith team I must remember it differently, yes I remember those things being said about them particularly after the Boro match but for the most part everyone thought they were just crap rather than uninterested and lazy as I recall it.
