Cheers, LCAB. I think I was there when this happened but had no idea of its significance. I particularly like the spelling mistake on the placard. Cheers, mucker.

To those sewer brains that saw something lewd in LCABs post, note the comma in bold above.

*shakes head good naturedly*

Ano . I got him to sign it last year . Proper gent' . Kept saying I was too young to have seen him play - I wasn't , just - but he was lovely . To everyone , and there were loads there - at Radio Merseyside - last year .

Wimbledon. We were gone but a miracle kept us up, it certainly wasn't walkers tactics!

A lot was made in the south about this game. There was even rumours flying about match fixing or a betting sndicate coupe.
I can't remember exactly, was it that you were losing at half time & came back to win or the wimbledon goalie being at fault for the goals. It also believe it was brought up couple f years later when the Wimbledon goalie (Segers?) was investigated for match fixing.

I am not saying or accusing anyone of anything as I would hate to think that the game we all love & pay a lot of money to watch & support our teams was rigged.

tbh mate we were awful that day went 2 down got a iffy penalty limpar dive if i recall then a wonder goal from barry horne an the winner was the worst attepmpt at save ive ever seen.i dont beleve gambling was involved but intimadation by the crowd may have played a part as it was quite tense(y)at the end sagars was at (gwladys street) also there team coach was attacked alledgedly the night before i dunno but i do belive he basicly bottled it.dont get me wrong it did save this club from doom

Wimbledon. It was the fear of a freefall, not just the relegation.

Post match celebrations in the Carisbrook..unbelievable.

So foul and fair a day I have not seen...

Yeah I remember this. He was in the dock same time as Grobelaar and that goal was one that was brought up. It was never proved in his case, and i'd love to think that was the truth, cos i'd hate to think we profited from that kind of cheating more than any other, but you can't help but wonder...

Wimbledon, Coventry, Villareal - all games that could have shaped our future in a completely different way to how it is at present.

2 words , kid ; Carlos Tevez .

2 more ; Sheffield United .

P.S. What no-one - who wasn't there - ever takes into consideration about that day , was the influence of he crowd .
Goodison was under re-build and , effectively , the Park End - the old away end - was just a huge gap . Thus affecting the atmos' , one would imagine .
Not a bit of it . The Old Lady was at her raw-arse best , particularly after Anders - Greg Luganis - Limpar swallow dived down that end .
I've since seen the vid' and was amazed to see , " hard cases " , like Fash , Jones , etc breaking their necks to get off the pitch at the end .
Oh , and the bit about their Coach getting petrol bombed the night before , IS TRUE .
Being honest I couldn't give a monkey's .
Quits for Clive Thomas , and we've got another cupboard full of injustices . Ask , Mr. Collina .
