Our Kids

A couple of 30 year olds, a gargoyle and a man-boy.

Were more likely to produce League 2 players than Premiership weapons.
Somebody posted a link to an article not long ago that said there were more current premiership players produced by our academy than any other clubs except Man U and West Ham. Can't think who they could be, like.

Hibbert
Osman
Anichebe
Rodwell
Vaughan
Rooney
Ruddy

After that I start to struggle. Gavin McCann is retired, I'm not sure if Richard Dunne counts, Danny Fox has dropped into the Championship with Burnley and stayed there, Keith Southern's done the same now with Blackpool. Who am I forgetting?

I'd personally like to know more about Duffy / Mustafi....how both play.

Also whether this could be the year for Bidwell/Garbutt to step up and act as cover for Baines...

I'm gonna stick my neck out and go for Duffy, Baxter, Barkley, Gueye and as an outside bet young Jake Bidwell i think will be more involved with Adam Forshaw a possibility. Hallam Hope i wouldn't think so just yet
So which kids are gunna come through next season do we reckon?
Barkley? Hope? Or some of our non-homegrown youngsters like Vellios?

So you'd say Bidwell more than Garbutt ?

How is Mustafi coming along -- what kind of centre back is he?

Garbutt is a good prospect but Bidwell has something for me and would like to see him succeed. Not seen a lot of Mustafi so i won't comment on him for now

Ok mate, I heard a year or so ago that Bidwell was similar to Hibbert (ultra defensive) whilst Garbutt was more like Baines and as such we played him left midfield...

I hope they both come through.

Any news on Dier ?

That's one starter, two squaddies and three big question marks there. We tend to bone players who come good, and keep the ones that are right plebs and never do anything.

Jagielka to that list.

Obviously Vellios, Baxter and Gueye must be contenders as they all got game time last season. Gueye impressed the most, got the most game time and subsequently would be my top shout.

Barkley is another I think we're all expecting to see something of next season as Moyes himself said he would have featured this season if not for the injury.

P.S. Wasn't Baines originally at the Everton academy? How about that for a PL product? ;)

Anyone know why or how we let Tom Donegan leave our winning youth team to sign for Fulham last week?
I haven't seen him play, but he seemed an integral part of the midfield providing plenty of assists and goals.
