Everton starlet Jose Baxter eyes loan move to gain more experience
Toffees youngster looking for a temporary switch in order to sample first-team football and boost his chances of a long-term future at the Goodison Park club
Everton teenager Jose Baxter has spoken of his desire to play first-team football but admits he may have to look elsewhere to get it.
The 19-year-old has seen his first-team opportunities at Goodison Park limited, despite being named the reserve team's player of the season.
Baxter told the Liverpool Daily Post: "Hopefully I will get some more chances next season. If not, then maybe I will go out on loan and develop my game there."
Baxter played in two games last season, an FA Cup defeat to Reading and a Premier League defeat to Bolton and despite taking part in two losses, the forward is remaining upbeat.
He continued: "Every time you get out on the pitch is a dream come true and I really enjoyed it when I got the chance to come on last season."
Baxter has represented England at youth levels and may attract interest from the Championship.
"I have learnt loads this season," he said. "Every single day in training and every single game you play you are always picking things up and developing your game.
“It has not been a season like we expected in terms of the results, we probably expected to do better.
"But it has been a season for young lads to get a game and improve and that is what the club wants and what the players want.”
Baxter is the youngest player to play for Everton, having beaten a record previously held by James Vaughan and Wayne Rooney
