Our immediate future

We're searching for some form.

We need to replace the players we lost - which is up to the board to sort out.

Otherwise our immediate future is anywhere between 10th to 6th.

Uncertainty is all due to this board.

We've been searching for form all season. We are not going to reach the heights of recent seasons this time; you know it, I know it, Moyes knows it, and the players know it.

We are not going to get replacements of a similar standard to the players we have lost. They cost MONEY. If it were to happen, we might finish 6th-10th. The way things are at the moment, it will be 12th-15th.

In your opinion.

I am worried. We are up sh*t creek here. However, with a big effort I can still see us nicking a top 8 spot this year and cetainly fancy us to be in the top 10. We have a few years on our hands to make something happen and grease the wheels before we'll be in annual relegation scraps (probably). If it's not a takeover, it's going to have to be player sales. At the start of this season I hoped we'd see years of Ross Barkley becoming something comparable to what Rooney was, so we could have a hero again. Now my hope is that he does well for the sole purpose of securing the future of the club through his transfer fee. Same for Rodwell. Same for George Green.

The most worrying thing is that we've been very lucky so far (Blackburn, Fulham, Sunderland etc). What happens when our luck runs out?

I think most Evertonians will agree we are fairly fortunate to be sat on 24 points at the minute , im just worried that we may struggle to get the 15-20 points needed to be in the league this year , given the way we are playing its not unthinkable .

Next season will no doubt bring more worries , as normally happens us whenever a transfer window opens , but one benefit we may have is certain players not guaranteed a starting spot as much as they have this year , Saha (gone) , Neville and Cahill (both that year older ) .

Worried's a bit strong, saddened is probably more accurate.

Saddened by the fact that our squad is aging.
Saddened that we don't have the finances to make a quick fix.
Saddened by the fact that the players we do have are under-achieving.
Saddened by the dull, dull, dull football we're playing.
Saddened ( and annoyed ) by the fact that when we defend set pieces we have all our team in the box and don't leave a striker at half-way
Saddened that supporters are voting with their feet and
Saddened by the fact that there's no obvious solution.

Having said all that, we're an average team in a ( mostly ) average league and I still think we'll finish top half.
On the bright side I predicted 2-0 in the Prediction League so I moved up a few places (y)

I've been supporting Everton long enough to know that what is expected isn't always what happens.

Do I think we'll get mauled by Spurs? Actually, no. Not based on the past. We have a poor run of form, players injured, and then we have a match against a top drawer team and Everton surprise us all by pulling out a result.

Mind I'm not saying it will happen but I wouldn't be surprised at all if we drew 1-1 at WHL.

It would not surprise me either, but I think we'll get battered tbh............

When you look at the remaining fixtures, it's looks like the fixtures against Villa and Blackburn in January will be key because February is shaping up to be a terrible month (Man City, Chelsea, and RS) with Wigan in there as well.

If you look at our potential side in another 3 years:

___________Howard
Coleman Jagielka Heitinga Baines
_Barkley Fellaini Rodwell Drenthe
_______Osman
_____________Vellios

Subs: Mucha, Hibbert, Duffy, Gueye, Anichebe, McAleney, Hope)

There is lots to be positive about. One of the concerns is that Moyes only knows how to play defensive percentage football and that he doesn't have the nous to turn tight games in our favour. It's hard to see how this is ever going to change. So, even with the quality that he's been crying out for in the side (Donovan & Drenthe), we'll still be at a disadvantage to more tactically-savvy rivals.

Those days are gone.

Well...balls to this season. Next season is looking grim also...

Rolling into 2012-2013 season

Contracts up end of this season (apparently)
Duffy
Distin
Saha
Mcfadden
Baxter
Wallace
Forshaw
McAleny

Players out -
Drenthe
Stacqualursi
Donovan

So...the "maybe's" to be sold or looking for transfers -
Bilyaletdinov
Heitinga

So with almost 8 contract renewal players, 3 loans going back, and 2 who could be shipped off that's 13 players off the books.

For us to make any transfers or to add to the squad to replace the ones leaving, the usual applies - a big name will need to be sold.

Rodwell
Fellaini
Baines

I'd rule out Barkley because he's not done anything. I'd rule out Jags because he's knocking on, and seems to be getting bad knees.

I could even exclude Rodwell, who too is getting niggling injuries and I dont think clubs will still pay the fee we want.

Additionally you have, Hibbert, Osman, Neville, Distin, Saha, Cahill all rolling in their 30+'s...

Grim. Very Grim
