Our attendances at home

Conning the taxman......

Whilst I doubt it is the case anymore, it was pretty obvious that when cash used to be taken on turnstiles that the actual attendance was always lower. It would be pretty hard to police, certainly during days of standing

Money City are the worst - they've been known to call it 45,000 with the place relatively empty - December game at their place when it was terrible weather (we won 2-1) about 4 years ago. The front rows were all pretty much empty..

To be honest there was still tickets available yesterday right up to kick off, the seat next to me wasn't taken in the Park End and you oculd see all the obstructed seats up the Upper St end empty yesterday

There was obviously empty seats, i'm not denying that. But 3,500-4,000 empty seats? Didn't look it to me anyway. Still 36,000 is a decent attendance considering the ticket prices we charge for games like this. I paid £41 I think for an obstructed view.

I always say this and remember that game. One where Anichebe got sent off and it was about -12 degrees? Me and my mate pissed ourselves when we saw the attendance.

As someone said earlier complimentary/free tickets don't count. The obstructed views should be sold at £15 and that would put another 3000 on our attendance.

I've always wondered why our home figures seem to be wrongly calculated to be lower than what they actually are? Anyone know why? Apparently there was 36,000 there yesterday but where were the 4,000 empty seats? Chelsea filled their 3,000 allocation and there is surely no way there could have been 4,000 empty seats in the home section.

Then you have clubs like Arsenal reporting 60,000 each week when there are loads of empty seats. We must be the only club in England to quote our attendances lower than what they actually are.

Nothing changes. It was a standing joke.

They've always been at it. It started in the late 60's and reached ( IMO ) it's peak in the early to mid 70's.

Was it to bilk the players out of their attendance bonus???

Waiting for the crowd to disperse they would give the attendance...it was the biggest laugh of the day, especially if the result was not too hot.

Capacity say 50K, a quick scan of the ground during the game; well over 3/4's full, estimated attendance 38K...

Todays attendance was 32,378...

Hoots of disbelief all round, 5K lots of cash that the taxman never sees, it was all cash at the door and cash is hard to trace
