That header was great. He had to generate all the power in it as well as direct it back across goal, he clearly wasn't going for the other corner because why would you in that situation from a cross that's floating at 0.7mph away from goal at neck height? His body shape makes it practically impossible to contort your neck enough to power it into the other corner, it'd have to be a glancing header and the cross had nowhere near enough pace on it for that. It went exactly where he wanted to put it.

Not so sure mate.

I like everything about the guy. He gets into the right positions to give himself a chance on goal, and that's half the battle when you're a forward. Without his goals we'd be a point above the relegation places... interesting thought.

That picture has been taken just after he's headed it though, so it's a natural follow through from the initial contact as he's had to literally throw his head at it to generate the required power. He had a lot to do, make no mistake about that. People will laud Martina for a wonderful assist but he's just floated it in the general direction of a blue shirt really.

I think he's really quite poor. But the thing is, he gets into the right positions at the right times to be quite poor. Only part of that is a never-say-die attitude.
It'd be interesting to see what he'd do with wingers who take the ball to the goal line and deliver quality crosses...I think he'd be almost unplayable

One of the weirdest posts I've ever read lol

It seems people are confused. Let me clarify.
A footballer consists of several attributes physical and mental, these determine the best position for them to play.
Niasse is a striker, a strikers job is to score.
His technical attributes are obviously sunday league standard, but his workrate, determination, positional sense and finishing are great. This allows him to score regularly when given the opportunity. To call him a poor footballer is foolish.

I feel that if it was a natural follow through (I've had a few of them after a drunken night out  ), he'd be looking in the direction the ball was traveling after he just headed it. But I'm more than happy to agree to disagree because, at the end of the day, only Oumar Niasse really knows where he meant to put it. Although, I think to say that Martina just floated the ball in the general direction of a blue shirt is a bit unfair to the player. I thought it was a well controlled cross myself.

lol lol

I think because his body shape was square on to the cross rather than the goal, he had to redirect it precisely into the corner as well as generate power which is why on the picture his head has ended up in that position. If he'd just followed straight through the ball it would have just gone back to Martina. Dem neck muscles.

I think you do Martinez a disservice there...it was a beautifully weighted chip/cross and found Oumar perfectly. It was an obvious ball, because Oumar had as usually, brilliantly manouvered himself into a threatening position in open space. What DID happen to the Palace defence?
