Let's not forget that game he started recently...was it vs Liverpool? It was like having 10 men.
An impact sub, fine. But to start? Not for me.

Yeah coz we are always great against Liverpool. You could put anyone up front the way we set out that day and the result would be the same unless you are expecting him to get on the end of one of Pickford's hoofs out of play so he can Marco Van Basten one into the top corner?

His other start was against Palace. Did OK there (ignoring the ban that came from it...)

Shows how much we’ve fallen that a striker who’s probably one of the worst we have ever bought, and was moments from leaving.. is now “much needed” by Sam and has bailed us out on more than one occasion this season

Saw it coming though

Quite a good point actually. Popular opinion was already massively against Martinez when Niasse was signed in RM's last transfer window, so by association, the minute Niasse showed signs of struggling, he quickly became a lightning rod, unfairly, for criticism in the last few months of the regime.
The only point I would make is that at the time it’s was a relatively large sum. If he had remained in favour we would be pretty unhappy that at best he is only now an impact sub.

As he was treated so badly and because he appears to be “plucky” there’s a risk that we look at his signing rather more kindly.

Only a board with a rock solid clear strategy could see Oumar this month.

If we can make a tidy sum on him now and then take a risk on relying on DCL, Walcott and Attaturk for the rest of the season with a top striker lined up for July then I'm happy.

No matey, I am expecting him to follow the pattern of the game. So if our right back gets it and doesn't have a pass on short, Niasse has moved to a RCF spot so he can receive it easily. And then when he has it, hold it and wait for us to follow.

He is, in a word, absolutely useless at this aspect of the game. Appalling.

What he is good at is coming on against tired legs and using his energy and decent finishing skills to nick goals. Nothing wrong with that as a role and it's one he assumes well.

To have him as a regular starter would be a mistake imo.

Generally I agree, nothing wrong with him being a useful impact sub. You are basing his usefulness as a starter on one game against our rivals who we are always rubbish against and this year sat way back. Its not a good game to base that opinion off.

Its hard for anyone to hold the ball up for us anyway as nobody can be bothered running etc.

Horses for course I suppose, depends on the opposition.

Oh no sorry, that was just the first example I could think of.
You're right, against Palace he was good.
Generally though, even where he has come on a sub, his hold up game is terrible.
As you say though, horses for courses.

You can score without know where to move but you can’t lead an attack or be the center in offensive formation without knowing where\when to stay and go.

What I am saying is Niasse may be a decent sub who gets in the game and scores by the chaos he created in opposition’s defence but you can’t create an offensive plan with him as sole striker. On the other hand, Cenk and even DCL has this ability.

Not sure why you’d rather ‘create an offensive plan’ that was based around a centre forward who never remotely looks like scoring from open play, which is DCL.

His goal started the comeback against Watford...he was a starter in that one as well.
