Everybody gets booed from time to time, it's part of the game if you play for Real Madrid. Greatest club in the world, highest expectations. At the start of the season he didn't score for 6 games, and was generally bad. The season before he was quite average (in Real Madrid terms) - partly because of injuries. I think if I were to look up the amount of injuries he's had over the last three years I'd be quite amazed.

He also isn't really endearing himself to fans with his refusal to learn Spanish. He's been there for 5 years or something and he still doesn't speak the language on a somewhat decent level. It's not a hard language; he appears to be too lazy to learn it or make an effort. Beckham you saw he really struggled but at least he tried and tbf he improved. They appreciated that.
There`s absolutely no excuse not to learn the language, at least to conversational level.

I`d take it as an insult too, if a player had been here for that length of time and hadn`t bothered to learn English.

I remember Tevez never learnt English in all his time here.

Bale has the skills but doesn't have the personality of a galatico.
When Beckham was there he you used to see him host party's and get involved with the likes of the fat ronaldo, Carlos, figo etc.

Having said that you wouldn't really want to hang around with people like Pepe (when he was there) or benzema.

When living in a country and interacting with the natives on a daily basis, then you naturally should build up a decent repertoire of vocabulary.

With five years experience and time to have lessons etc., I don't think it's unrealistic to expect someone to be relatively fluent in the language.

However, I have read in the past that Bale can speak Spanish relatively well (he's done interviews in Spanish), but it's more of a confidence issue.

Idk mate, but his level is still disappointing. Lineker, McManaman, Beckham speak Spanish on a decent level or higher (the first two). He's in his twenties and should be able to put in the effort to master the language on a decent level.

I also think tweets like this indicate that there is a problem:

Bale not learning the language is more of a missed opportunity for him to better and enrich himself than everything else, may have affected him as a player too, he disconnects and ponders, looks a loner, his team mates ignore him, Bale himself said he doesn't socialize with them in his free time. He could have picked up the language by now if he showed little effort, it's bizarre.John Toshack had a dig at him recently for it, but I've no qualms with him over the language.

After his last injury(sept-dec) he's been in and out of the strting 11 but never out of the matchday squad, he started a plethora of big games too; valencia, derby, Juve, clasico. It's not like he has been frozen out and not given a chance to get back into the starting 11.

Despite Liverpool's 433 being taylor made to beat Madrid's diamond Zidane was always going to start the way he did because those are the players he had most success with, it's one thing to start 442 away in Paris to suffocate their electric 433 after beating them in the 1st game completely different to bench Isco, Modric and Kroos for a game of this magnitude, it's just how football works.

We paid 30 mil for one of them ;)

Daft IMO. But I guess that's their culture.

Theres been plenty of footballers over here who havent bothered learning english. If I remember, Aguero and Tevez didn't/haven't. Costa....

It's a poor excuse IMO
